He remembered this feeling like he remembered death. He knew the sensation so clearly, like sinking into a void. Like shattering from the inside out. Like staring into his sibling’s face and everything going ... black.

This was a feeling the empty him stepped over like it was nothing. Bearing RESET, existing without any kind of purpose and filling that void with meaningless actions and slaughter.

He saw Chara’s face again, and all he felt was the distant memory of death.

              “H - Howdy! I didn’t think...”

                                        ...

              “I didn’t think I’d see you again,                 Chara. Hee hee. Hee...”

Everything for him stopped.

              “I missed you, too.”

Perhaps this isn’t what Chara would have said, perhaps it was just an added layer of protecting his kindness into the long cherished sibling, but if one of them could regain a semblance of life, why seek out the one who could not? After everything, he still felt the same way. Not the greatest person, but still his best friend.

Well, Chara could believe that, actually – considering what was going on here. The way he looked, and was acting, and all. Still…

“I’m not exactly happy about it, you know.” Sigh. They shake their head. “I hurt him. A lot. And yeah, I messed with him, and it was fun in the moment, but…”

They’re not going to admit everything, but they’re sure this ‘alternate’ is aware of their actions, if he’s been residing in the other’s body this whole time.

        ｢💔」”You’re not happy? What are you talking about?”

        -- The boy in Frisk’s body stares at Chara in confusion, his crimson eyes almost seeming to bore right through them. “It’s fun to mess with him. It’s all just a game so that he ＲＥＳＥＴs, right? All this ooey-gooey peace and quiet keeps making me go dormant.” That would explain why he’s not cognisant about what happened afterwards, in any case.

        “Hurt him. Make him suffer. Drive him over the edge and cause a ＲＥＳＥＴ so we can have a bit of fun... sheesh, what kind of alternate are you if you don’t hate humanity?” 

        He frowns, then, as he motions to his host. “Did Frisk make you go soft?”
