Just wanted to let you know (if you hadn't heard) that Ben Willbond is on Playing House this season in multiple episodes being v. charming, indeed. I hadn't been aware of him until I saw him in a movie recently (in which he didn't even speak, FINE, it was Bridget Jones's Baby), but it seemed like good timing. I remember you talking about Horrible Histories and figured you'd know him (and it seems you do!). So, anyway, yes. He is v. handsome and charming, and you once again have good taste.

I was the one who asked about the timeline (and has been liking all your Christie/Hannah posts — the rooftop gazing, it's so good :-( ). Sorry for double-posting the question within one ask! I copied it in case it didn't go through and didn't realize I'd just made an extremely long question instead. They really remind me of Will and Alicia from The Good Wife with their "there was always something there in law school"-ness, which I think is why I've given it a lot of thought in a short time. :-)

Yes! I have always thought that too re. Will and Alicia - both lawyers, met in law school, female protagonist is cheated on by husband, starts working with the one that got away etc - and it makes sense when you think that Abi Morgan said she was partly inspired by The Good Wife. I just hope Will’s fate won’t befall Christie should we get s3. :\

I do wonder a lot about s3 though. Abi has said that she always planned it with 3 series in mind, so she must have had a clear plan from the start. Maybe it’s wishful thinking, but I do feel like Hannah and Christie COULD be endgame when you look at the pattern of ups and downs they’ve had. Nathan was shit from s1 when we found out he cheated and then tried to come on to Nina. I mean, yes you could argue Hannah cheating earlier cancelled that out, but it’s a whole different thing and I don’t see how they can get them together and happy again. Plus I feel like there has got to have been some point for introducing Chloe (Nathan’s student) because she honestly served no purpose in s2, so I’m wondering if they she gets with Nathan in s3, permanently or not. Even if we don’t get the ending I hope for, at least I have the way I’ve written to pretend with, heh.

In short, I have a lot of thoughts about The Split, OK? :p

Do you think any hopes of Greg/Rebecca are over now that Greg basically ruined everything? I can't imagine the writers won't try to redeem him (he IS a main character, and I don't want to watch him Nice Guy TM himself out of this situation), but he just ... GREGORY. WHY. I don't like focusing on just this aspect (and I'm not), but THIS FINALE WAS SO FRUSTRATING! In the Greg/Rebecca/Josh department. Anyway, I've been wanting to get your thoughts for a while, so have this long message (sorry).

Ah, thanks for this message. Honestly I’m kinda really excited for the Greg/Rebecca stuff in s2! THIS IS THE BEST PART OF ROM-COMS, the guy blows it! The girl gets “what she always wanted” but then realizes it’s not want she REALLY wants! IT’S GONNA BE AWKWARD AND FULL OF JEALOUSLY AND HURT FEELINGS AND BOTH OF THEM BEING EXTRA AND I CAN’T WAIT! 

I think they’ve kinda moved around the “nice guy” label for Greg because 1. HE ISN’T NICE 2. He and Rebecca aren’t really friends when they’re not hooking up he’s just this presence in her life she fucks up around and vice versa, like they get along when they don’t get in their own way but they’re not really FRIENDS. 

Plus this show is really good about making all the characters flawed in v consistent ways and trying to show growth (or at least attempts at growth), so I think they’ll work on Greg’s....Greg-ness next year as well as Rebecca’s ongoing issues. I’m optimistic!

GROSS. I checked Thomas McDonelelelenele's (honestly can't be bothered to check how many Ns or Ls he has in his last name) Twitter a few weeks ago because, you know, I will literally check every cast members' Twitter for behind the scenes pics for certain shows. And his Twitter seemed super weird and bizarre, but I hadn't seen any of THAT. Grossssssssssss, ugh. UGH. SEND FINN BACK TO SPACE 4EVER (not gonna happen :-( ).

my dislike for his character kept him out of my twitter following mind and MAN i am so glad. what a fucking creep.

I'm prettttty sure she's blonde? And if not, I don't think she's naturally that dark of a brunette.

I mean, the first thing I ever saw her in was Alias and she was quite blonde, so that would make sense.

HHHMMMMMM, CARRIE. You are making a convincing case!

IF IT HELPS, the important John/Aeryn eps I can think of from early S1 are:

Exodus from Genesis PK Tech Girl DNA Mad Scientist The Flax (THEY DONE KISSED) A Human Reaction (super J/A and one of the best eps of the show IMO) And then after that the show gets super myth arch-y and slightly less "space case of the week", so maybe try those eps and see if you're interested in continuing?

I feel like maybe the show just isn't for me — I almost feel bad saying it, but it felt silly to me? But people talk so highly and passionately about J/A! The important thing to know about Farscape is that IT IS SO FUCKING SILLY. Like. Absolutely ridiculous.  I hate Rygel so fucking much and I want to take a mallet to his stupid muppet head. I have never watched a dumber show in my life, and it took me at least half of season 1 to be somewhat invested in it.

HOWEVER I have ALSO never watched a show that took my heart out and stomped on it as thoroughly as this show did with John and Aeryn, and I mean that in the best way. Somewhere in my marathon I was like "how did this show that frequently makes fart jokes turn into the show that I cry about at 3 am? HOW DID THIS HAPPEN????"

I really don't want to be one of those people who's like THIS SHOW IS PERFECT AND YOU MUST LOVE IT because I have friends who absolutely hate it and will never change their minds and I understand why. But I know for me, the ship payoff was absolutely worth the investment and it's now one of my fave shows ever primarily for how well that story was told.

(Also, it's worth mentioning that most of the characters grew on me - I really really love Pilot, and D'Argo and John become really great BFFs, and Zhaan can be lovely, and Chiana who you haven't met yet is awesome. And there's a legitimately terrifying Big Bad introduced at the end of season 1 that ramps up the drama considerably, taking the show in a slightly less campy and more Serious SciFi direction - though, as I said, this show remains COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS throughout.)
