Kentucky must be so proud of Republican Sen. McConnell. Both Versions of him & both versions of his views on holding a vote on a Presidential appointee. If McConnell is not your Republican Sen. & you live out of the state, just know your Republican senator voted for this guy to be majority leader.

Y'all Wet, Dry or Moist?

Some places this could prompt a slap in the face, but not in Kentucky!

Wet = alcohol available in all the usual places.

Moist = only at restaurants

Dry = keep on driving to the next county

In the bourbon capital of the world, it doesn’t make sense to have such a patchwork of wet, moist and dry counties.

Kentucky is noticeably less religious than Western Virginia (a vestige of the old frontier culture, which hit its apex in my Pacific Northwest). So, dry=blue law doesn’t fit.

We need to go back to an earlier post on the power of inter and intra regional politics. Not only is making and selling liquor good business, taxes on it fund local government.

I was told that Knott County, Kentucky’s newest & one of its poorest counties, was the home of the best and most skilled moonshiners. Their illegal product is still highly sought after.

But the monied elite from the lowland seat of power were loath to see hillbillies profiting from the bourbon boom and made the county dry.
