Meet Your Alfred: Daniel H.
Tell us a bit about yourself!
As long island native, I’ve spent a lot of time strolling through the neighborhoods of Manhattan. The dichotomy between the overcrowded suburbs where seemingly nothing happened and the similarly populated areas of the city where it seemed everything was happening, I knew that I wanted to call this city home one day and add to the chaotic beauty of it all.
When are you happiest?
My happiest is when I force myself to get a jumpstart early in the morning and explore a new area that I had never been, whether it be in the more rural areas of the northeast taking in the beauty that it offers or taking advantage of the wide array of hobbies that this city offers (running throughout different parks, finding new bookshops, visiting museums and galleries, getting back into Tango or spending time with friends).
That’s actually one of the reasons I love working at Alfred. I feel like every week I’m discovering something new. It’s funny because Alfred gives us amazing tools and equipment to do our job, and one of the pieces I got was this pair of Darn Tough socks, which helped us hike through the urban landscape, but I now use whenever I go hiking in the “real” outdoors too!
The really cool thing about Alfred is that they partner with brands that truly value authenticity and stand by their products. I’ve been using Darn Tough socks for years on my own hikes, and having them supporting us (literally) is not only great for our feet - but perfect because Alfred and Darn Tough share so many of the same values as brands - the most important being the happiness and satisfaction of their clients and customer.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Never take yourself too seriously. A person does not know everything and will never learn anything unless they face each day with a certain degree of humility.
What part of your morning ritual would you recommend?
Wake up an hour earlier each morning before you need to get the day started. I learned this from my father, and we would sit and enjoy each morning over a cup of coffee or five before we actually needed to start getting ready.
What part wouldn’t you?
I do not recommend using the same towel for a week straight for your morning shower (counter productive).
Why did you join Alfred?
After returning back from Asia where I had lived for the past year, I was left with a sense of still not knowing where my career path lies. When I discovered Alfred, it offered me a chance to be active throughout the day and engage in conversations with people from all walks of life. I really enjoy the flexibility it offers me, while also being able to help people in a very real way.
What surprised you most about Alfred?
I was surprised to see how the relatively small team at Alfred it able to take on the entire city day in and day out and execute the tasks for all its differing clientele. Think Alfred is right for you? Sign up here. (You might even be lucky enough to get Daniel.)
