While being his with a such a statement was a shock, it was also predictable. Najma's crest only twitched momentarily at the threat before they returned to the stoic machine persona they preferred to hold around more contemptible audiences. His end reaction to doubt was crude, lacking the nuance if the threat was truly intended to be followed up on rather than a test. It could go either way.
"I have experienced death. It was uneventful," Najma bluntly stated, keeping their straight posture and direct optics-to-eyes contact. To the contrary, everything surrounding the death was very eventful. It was mainly constant threats of violence afterwards, so this was hardly new. "A certain level of risk is required to seek answers. How different people view the world and why they view the world as such is fascinating," Najma explained, their tone still as calm as ever. People had done more dangerous things for science, such as escaping Helix custody and joining a terrorist organization. Though, that was more for survival than anything. Talon was a lot better than the fate Najma was now sure Anubis suffered.
"My people, unlike yours, cannot naturally evolve," Najma noted with a small hand gesture. Omnics had emergent behavior, but their hardware was tragically unchanging, and they were at risk of being condemned to obsolence every few decades. The folly of the Omnic people was in failing to acknowledge this. "I wish to change that, but I cannot improve my people when struggling to survive. So far, that has done nothing but slow down my work."
Perhaps, an Omnium could, they had minds specifically crafted for it, but they too were limited in their ability. Though advanced, their forms of self-improvement and self-maintenance could just barely match that of the human body, as riddled with virtually unfixable bugs as the human body may be.
"I have never been the type to seek conflict , but I enjoy learning." Najma shook their head. "People question me all the time, so it's odd to think someone may be opposed to scrutiny." It wasn't odd at all, but people were quick to accept that an omnic may be acting in ignorance of human behavior rather than out of malice or disapproval.
"However, if you have the patience to indulge me: Most have a moment of epiphany before reaching a conclusion such as yours. What was your moment?"
