Koby was staring at their picture again, his face scrunched up as he took in every detail of the wanted poster. He was very familiar with the mischievous smile on their faces. It was one they often gave him when they were about to get away from him.
He couldn’t help but smirk seeing their high bounty. It made sense, the amount of time they stole valuable things from the rich or managed to sneak away from the Marines. He found himself staring at the picture longer than he should. His heart fluttered, as it usually did whenever he thought of them.
They had been on his mind since their first meeting, the first time they stole his glasses and wore them before they shared a conversation on how blind he was before it went deeper, talking about the ideal world to live in, or what they each thought justice was. Or them just listening to Koby talk about Luffy’s accomplishments and such. Their conversation left a positive memory in his heart and a yearning to see them again as they snuck away before he could arrest them.
Their meeting was often like this, he would try to capture them but only for them to be alone and in the end hiding they would have a private conversation. They would tease him a lot, him idolizing pirates despite being a marine. Before they made a getaway from him before the marines could capture them. He sighed and folded the picture and put it in his pocket a familiar place and close to his heart.
Today they were going to meet again, there were rumors of their sighting. Their pirate ship was spotted docked on a small island, and they spoke of a mysterious person who seemed to light up the room. He knew who it was, and his heart was hammering hard in his chest.
“They are a pirate,” he repeated to himself trying to calm his pounding heart. But he found himself getting excited. He was going to meet them soon. He could hear his crew mates shuffling around as they were nearing the island, and he tried to stifle a smile on his lips as he was thinking of them. He would see them soon.
--
“Guess who?” a familiar voice whispered in his ears as he felt the warmth of the body behind him. Warm hands covered his eyes. He had been chasing them through the village, and he managed to throw the marine off them.
Koby called their name before turning around, his cheeks tinted pink matching his hair color. He found himself staring at the pirate who wrapped their arms around his shoulder still holding him close. “I knew you would catch up to me and find me,” they teased him poking his nose.
Koby paused as he found himself staring, staring at the pirate. The pirate that made his heart hammer like crazy, the one that was always on his mind as he stared at them unmoving, not blinking as he stared at them. They had found a secluded part of the village away from prying eyes.
“I….” he had to say something cool to say, what would Luffy say in this situation. Or one of the cooler marines, “I wanted to see you again,” he said.
This time he left the pirate flustered as they stood close together, their breathing in sync. He watched their faces taking in each tiny detail he could remember; how long their eyelashes were; how their lips turned up in a smile that lit up their face; the shape of their face. He tilted their chin and felt their breath on his lips.
“What are you waiting for?” They whispered their eyes half-lidded and they leaned in close their lips brushing onto him. Koby soon closed his eyes and captured their lips. It was a short sweet kiss, his mind was fuzzy and he could only think about their warmth pressed on his body before he pushed away.
His cheeks were red and he couldn’t believe he kissed them. Something he always thought about but never had the courage to do. “I am sorry,” he mumbled his cheeks almost matching his hair.
But he couldn’t pull away as he felt their lips brushing against his again this time deepening the kiss and pushing him to the wall. His eyes widened a bit before he slowly melted into the kiss himself wrapping his arms around them.
“You aren’t a bad kisser,” they finally said breaking away for some air before pushing away. “But I have to go before your friends find me,” with a simple wink they turned around making a quick getaway and blending in with the crowd. “I hope to see you again,” was the last words they whispered.
“Same,” Koby thought.
