Qrow looked at the woman with a grin, hand gently holding her arms above her head. The harbinger had asked her for a friendly spar while he was in Atlas, seeing as they don’t often have the chance to brush up on their skills. So when Winter had agreed he was honestly thrilled. Only few could match his skills and she was one of them.

Though he had noticed throughout the fight her mind was elsewhere. He had commented on getting her attention, yet every time a blow was given it seemed like she wasn’t all there. That had to change. So he had thrown a gentle yet effective kick to her side to stagger her. Once he knew he had her he tackled her to the ground, effectively pinning her.

“Finally have your attention?” He joked as he grinned. “Then I must be doing something right. It’s rare I get your attention like this.”

“You dont know the stories?” Qrow asked with a smile, and gestured out over the marshes. “This time of year, the spirit world and the mortal world grow close together. You sometimes see their wisps in the fog out there. Sometimes its fireflies, sometimes its the Tricky Whisp Grimm, but sometimes... Sometimes its those who’ve been long gone.”

“You wouldn’t be imposing, Winter. We’d like you to stop by.”

Once Winter had selected her tea from the canister, James picked out his own and set the whole thing back on the shelf over the coffeemaker, dropping the tea bag into his cup to let it start steeping.

“But, I’m not going to argue with you if you don’t want to come. I thought you’d like the excuse to visit with your sister, since Ruby’s insisted Weiss comes by for dinner and Qrow can’t say no. If you end up taking home leftovers and having a few meals you don’t really have to cook, that’s your business.”

Penny never liked to complain. She didn’t like to be rude, and a lot of complaining just came across as rude, she thought.

It wasn’t that she didn’t like the dress, not at all, it was just that there was so much of it. Her systems were telling her it was hot: she couldn’t cool down as well with so much dress in the way. And it kept catching in her knees and tripping her a little. Though that might have been due in part to it being made to be worn with heeled shoes, while she’d been unable to walk in the shoes it had come with. She’d considered trying to hover just a little bit so she didn’t have to bend her knees or worry about her dress getting caught, but she’d been told not to do that. She’d wanted the shorter version of it, but then someone complained about having to look at her knees and how she walked: that had made her feel bad too.

Rather than voice all of her comparatively-petty concerns, however, she simply chose to state the one that bothered her the most.

“... I can’t see anything.”

Clover had tied her mask in place for her, and with her gloves, she hadn’t been able to go in and fix it. It was currently sitting a bit too low on her nose and obscuring her vision, and her proximity sensors were being tampered with by layers of dress.

She’d actually been worried that Winter was getting annoyed with her following her so close, but Winter was just the easiest person to find and follow with her limited vision.

Qrow let out a sigh. Typical Ice Queen.

He held up his flask. “Ya see this?” He paused for a moment to let Winter take a good, long look at it before proceeding to fling it behind him. “...Okay, so I quit drinking a little while ago, but it’s a start, right?”

“By definition, it technically only needs to be a social engagement or appointment. Romantic intentions not required but, we have created other words for that.” It was a lighthearted answer but there might have been the slight essence of cheekiness.

“Regardless, there is a small cafe with specialty teas that just opened up in a small corner of the city, it’s not too far. Thought perhaps that might give me an advantage into finally seeing you take a work break.”

I'd like to give a shoutout to @koeniginschnee who has been around for a LONG time and has been a fantastic writer of Winter with not much to go on before V7. It's amazing to see how well the Mun could write the character with not a lot to go on initially. Wonderful person and wonderful blog, keep up the good work!
