In Japanese this beetle (the “Japanese Beetle”) is called マメコガネ, Mamekogane-mushi，豆黄金、Literally “Bean Gold Bug.” 

Kogane-mushi is a name given in general to June bugs, Japanese beetles and other members of the Scarab beetle family.
