If you’d asked me at the start of the season it would probably be “Kallus Redemption Arc”, but that got resolved, if you’d asked me a few weeks ago it might have been “all the female extras blow up” but that one is just so minor and hasn’t really come up, so I’m gonna probably have to say certain aspects of the “Ezra vs the Dark Side” debate...
Especially the parts where people insist that he’s not going to fall or that he’s somehow surged past it.
He’s not going to become the villain, or a murderer (that’s just as problematic), but I’m all for just sitting back and watching him fall off that bicycle and scrape his hands and knees. He’s living in the darkest time for the galaxy, let’s give him a point where he has to fall to the Dark Side, make some mistakes, and then bring himself back (AKA “let’s give a character a redemption arc that isn’t just us trying to cash in on the popularity of an evil character whom the fandom really latched onto because he was played by a Pretty White Boy let’s show people what a Redemption Arc ACTUALLY IS because we’ve been pretty hard-up on those since Zuko *pats Peridot on the head to show that we haven’t forgotten her, moves to pull Razer closer but can’t find him because NO ONE KNOWS WHERE HE WENT*).
It’s a rare but delightful event to see a hero go evil. It’s also terrifying, and that’s often good storytelling (Red K Kara, Hive Daisy, the occasional brainwashed Optimus...it really lets the support cast shine, you know?). So I guess it’s kind of the opposition to the fandom’s mainstream thought of “the blueberry is becoming the blackberry”.
TLDR: LET THE BLACKBERRY HAVE HIS TIME BECAUSE THE BLUEBERRY WILL ALWAYS ENDURE.
