Richard works at a zoo; he’s a zookeeper and loves and adores the animals under his care. He’s usually the one at the front for the kid/school tours. Somehow he always manages to get them all interested in the trip and they usually come out of it begging for another trip. He still has his safari hat and wears it quite often from when he was working in the safari zone - a gag gift from his best buds and co-workers: Cara and Chase.
Denna works as a public relations expert for the same zoo Richard works at. She was aiming to work PR for a politician but somehow ended up in a very laid back job there at the zoo. Denna’s good at what she does and there has never been a zoo with a better public image; she wanted to have control over the zoo’s twitter but she’s yet to be able to wrestle control from Dahlia, one of the zoo keepers in charge of the penguins.
By chance or fate, she isn’t sure which, Denna ended up with Richard. Originally she was dating his brother, Darken Rahl but after she found him in bed with two other women she dropped his ass like a hot potato. Darken tried to push that he just couldn’t be monogamous and it ended with a whiskey bottle to his head and her shouting that she would have been fine with that if they’d discussed it. She marched straight out the door, into the garage, smashed his Maserati a few times with a tire-iron and ended up crashing headlong into Richard who saw her distress and offered her a ride home.
They own a cat by the name of Sir Jelly Bean McBeanToes; Denna likes to blame the name on drunken idiocy and Richard but in actuality it was all on her. All on her while she was sober at that.
Denna loves to wear white clothes and sadly, as every cat owner gets the joy of experiencing - their cat is a long haired cat with black fur. She’s fairly certain she keeps lint rollers in business and actually did put stock in one of the companies once (when she was drunk). Richard just shakes his shirts and pants out before putting them on and heads out - much to Denna’s horror. He could at least iron his pants.
Denna never remembers to buy more tampons from the store and it never fails - she’s stuck in the bathroom, hunched over and snapping at their cat while Richard is sprinting four blocks over in a mad dash to obtain the correct box. The clerk at the tiny grocery mart/gas station is so used to this that they usually have a box under the counter ready for check-out.
Richard loves to cook and finds Denna absolutely adorable when she first wakes up in the morning. Every time they have a day off together he gets up as stealthily as possible and makes her her favorite breakfast. It always puts a smile on Denna’s face because while it happens regularly she never knows when exactly it’s going to happen.
They’re opposites when it comes to the vehicles they drive - Denna has a small sporty car (in white, of course) and Richard has a truck (because is’s necessary for hauling equipment, really).
Before their first date Richard found out that Denna was particularly fond koalas; he managed to bribe the zookeeper in charge of the koala pen and got them both in for an hour after the guests were gone. The price was definitely worth it - all Cara wanted was his truck and his muscle so she could move into her girlfriend’s place.
Richard is very much not a top when it comes to sexyteims. He’s tried a few times but he always ends up the bottom. It’s hard to be toppy when your girlfriend has pulled out all the stops, outfits, crops and corsets included.
