Can I have it one more time? So cheeky.
His mouth hurts because of Arthit. He can't stop thinking that.
I posted a SOTUS ficlet! I’ve been writing a lot in recent months but this is the first fic I’ve posted in a very long time. It was inspired by this episode three scene in which Arthit bullies Kongpob over dinner by trying to publicly humiliate him and then ruin his dinner by lacing it with a massive pile of fiery chillies... and it does not deter Kongpob’s freak one bit. I love an unhinged piner, and Kongpob is so restrained yet weird about it all.
Thank you very much to @thebroccolination for both the thorough and enthusiastic beta and for the feral capslock whenever I mentioned my random fic ideas over the past year or so, greatly appreciated. <3 And to everyone else who made encouraging and supportive noises whenever I mentioned my writing; it really kept me going. Y’all are so lovely, I’m very glad I’ve found such a cool corner of this lil fandom! <333

The episode was very inspirational. I mean, just look at this little power-tripping Head Hazer with his pink milk.
And look at that pile of nasty chillies.
And look at this poor boy already in too deep.

Random thoughts about SOTUS episode 9 :
I couldn’t wait to talk about this episode because it’s one of my favorite one of the series. So, here is the review of the 9th episode.
The field trip is over and Kong and Arthit are no more on bad terms. They will spend a lot of time together in this episode and it represents a shift in their relationship.
There is something fascinating about this story that keeps me watching it. I admit that I’m easily-pleased both as a viewer and a reader. The only thing I ask of a story is to captivate me and there is a special kind of allure into SOTUS. It has its flaws, but it never really blocks me from enjoying the beautiful aspects of the story and the tender moments that tug at my heartstrings. In this episode, I feel like the romance story is really starting. Both characters hasn’t really said the world “love”, but you can see that they are now both aware that something is different. In the beginning, it was only Kong that was feeling it, but this episode shows us that Arthit may also realizes that the way Kong acts around him is a bit different. He isn’t entirely understanding what changed, but he perceives the difference. They both are in a very slow burn romance. I’m usually not a fan of those story because they tend to make me really impatient, but sometimes I get one where I don’t mind having to wait and Kong and Arthit’s romance is one of them. I guess it’s because the emotional and physical connection between the characters are well built. The tension is high, but it’s not unbearable where you wish they would stop beat around the bush and finally act upon those feelings. The good point about slow burn romance is they make every moment of eye contact, smiles, hand gesture... really matter.
So let's go back to what happened in this episode. We were at the beach where Kong thought he wouldn't be able to talk to Arthit again. His favorite senior was again angered by the terrible attempt of a play some 1st years did for the last night of the trip. Thanfully, it didn't happen the way he thought because Arthit came back and that's where we find them again in this episode. I'm glad both Arthit and Kong found a way of setting aside their previous disagreements to have a healthy and nice chat without fighting. It was the moment to really learn about each other. I think Arthit, despite the fact that he is a quick-tempered person, he is also mature enough to know that he has some flaws and he tries to do better. After all, he is still young and learning how to act. I believe he can find the right balance, especially if the person in front of him is aware of how he tries to do better. Kong is that type of person that is mature enough to understand it. It's actually quite funny to see how he is attuned of Arthit's mood: when Arthit is angry, Kong is sad, but the moment Arthit talk to him in a friendly and sweet voice, then his smile his back on his face and he is happy again. It was really showing in this moment because his demeanor entirely changed when Arthit told him he was tired of picking a fight with him. Kong was reassured and he even decided to get bolder.
He used the wish he won from the contest to get a “date”. Oh, of course he didn't say the word “date”, but the viewers can't be fooled that's what it is. You have to admit, Kong is so smooth and he knows when to strike a move: the date allows him to get Arthit's number too. This is also the moment, where Kong gives his gear bracelet to Arthit thinking he knew what it meant, but unfortunately for him Arthit has no idea about the hidden meaning in this gift. Kong gave him the gear and Arthit gave him the flag (from the last hazing game). They both have to take care of something the other one had. I felt like it moving so fact in this episode. When Arthit left to rejoin his friends, he finally learned about the meaning behind giving the gear to someone else and he couldn't believe it and almost spilled his drink. I don't think he really realized before how Kong acts differently towards him. He is not looking for a close relationship with a senior, in a friendly way. There is something “romantic” about giving your gear to someone else, something that is not “friendly”. Arthit may deny it, but something changed here.
Now that Kong had the opportunity to flirt more openly with Arthit, he won't stop now, he's doing so well! Chance was on his side because the bus the 1st years should have taken broke down and they have to share their bus with the 3rd years. At first, they couldn't sit together, but thankfully the story is on our side and the bus stopped for a short break and that's how everyone could end up sitting next to their crush: Kong sat next to Arthit, and M took his place next to May. I wonder if this scene was set to show that Kong and May could never be together and would only be friends. The snack part was really showing they didn't like the same things. While Kong didn't like the durian snack May had, M was really interested in it and it was shown later when they were sitting next to each other. Maybe I'm putting to much meaning behind this scene. On the other hand, Kong knows what his crush like (in this case he brought Pink milk): he listens to him and notices what interests him so he can bring it to him. Care is such an important part of any relationship. It doesn't have to be grand gestures, it's in the small things. It makes the other one feel understood and valued. It contributes also to the well-being of the “caregiver”. It engenders a sense of purpose and gives feelings of happiness and contentment. When Arthit is happy, Kong is also happy, and when he was angry, it hurt Kong a lot.
In this episode, Arthit is feeling that the way Kong treats him is going beyond the simple friendship a mentee could have for his mentor. In addition, I think he doesn't know how to respond to it. When they arrived at the uni, it felt like he wanted to give him back the gear, but decided otherwise and kept it. Is it because he doesn't want to hurt Kong, or because he doesn't know what to feel? I believe Arthit is lost because he never imagined it would happen to him. However, there is this soft part of him who cares about Kong probably deeper than he actually thinks he is. That's why he went to this “date” Kong asked for when they were at the beach. While Kong was really well-dressed for this, Arthit was in a more relaxed fit. Of course, they didn't really go to this “date” with the same mindset. Kong is “going out” with Arthit to spend more time with his crush, while Arthit is thinking he is just being helpful to Kong. All these small attentions to him and Arthit reverts to his “tough” persona to hide how flustered he can be. Has anyone ever really flirt with him this way? It seems like he isn't used to have someone giving him so much “care”. That's when the story decided to bring another rival for Kong in the person of Namtan. They met her in the shop and Arthit introduced her as a friend, but you could see while they were talking that it may have been more that that. It felt like Arthit had a crush on her and Kong noticed it and felt left out. He couldn't even hide the hurt properly.
However, as his mood is linked to Arthit's words and feelings, one good word or kindness towards him (when he ordered the food for him) and he is back to his cheerful personality. The date ended at the hairdresser when Arthit showed him his new hairstyle and the hairdresser thought they were together. Of course, everyone can see how much care and love Kong as for Arthit so it's easy to be mistaken. Arthit may deny it, but soon enough, he will admit that things are different between them. That's also the time where Kong flirted some more with him. This guy can never pass a chance to flirt with his favorite senior. He is really showing at any time how much he cares about him: his attentiveness for his needs and concerns is always there, he makes a conscious effort to show appreciation, he is not afraid of showing vulnerabilities, he is fully present and he is trying to communicate as much as possible with him. It may seems like Kong is the only “active” person in the relationship, but I believe Arthit as also shown his care a lot. They only difference is that Kong is aware of his feelings for Arthit. As for Arthit, he just started to understand what Kong's feels for him and he doesn't know how to act. We'll see that this indecisiveness and the fear of the unknown will be some obstacles they'll have to overcome to fully live their romance.
I really liked this episode especially as the last one was so sad because they were at odds. In this one the romance is moving forward and we saw the variety of feelings these two can feels while being together.
HEY YOU
Looks like you’re having a rough/great/mediocre/indescribable day.
Bet you need to see a couple grotesquely in love on a business trip finding a way to cuddle between the front and backseat of a car, huh?
Say no more. We all do.
