Life Day Truce
As once I said, I wanted to depict a version of The Christmas truce – it's one of those things I'd love to see in Star Wars (and what can no longer happen in real life).
Since such a historical event could be timed to coincide with Life Day in this universe, I depicted the cessation of hostilities on Kashyyyk during the Clone Wars. Wookiee warriors spend time peacefully with living CIS soldiers, while also paying tribute to holiday traditions as much as possible during wartime: for example, the Wookiee with the ritual drum in the foreground wears a makeshift necklace of red leaves instead of a festive robe, while his comrade in the background decorates a tree branch with whatever is readily available - flowers and brightly colored fruits. A Neimoidian officer converses with him through a protol droid. In the background, ordinary soldiers play a game analogue of soccer. A Koorivar fusilier tells his story, or perhaps just smokes - in some cultures, silent smoking together can also be considered communication or even have a sacred meaning.
The result isn't perfect - I wanted to depict the characters so it would be clear they'd emerged from battle and show the traces of military action (weapons, removed armor, barricades, enginery etc). But I didn't have the strength.
May 4th be with you!
