Fanfic Author Appreciation Day!
Here's a handful of authors that I really enjoy! These aren't all of the ones I follow, but I do want to shed a little light:
lizcavil/ladycavil: my AMAZING sister! She just wrapped up the first part of her Musketeers fic The Road to War. She also has another fic in the same universe called Hide and Seek which is full of fun and all sorts of mishaps. Both are well written and worth reading, and I highly recommend them!
kopperblaze: I LOVE her fics about the young Durin boys, and she's written several oneshots that I really enjoy as well.
drakkhammerwrites: The Stone Keep of Her Heart. It's all about Dis and a delightful pair of little rascals! Need I say more? XD
kivrinengle: Okay folks. If you haven't read any of her work, get started. Her pieces are PHENOMENAL, The Sons of Durin being the most well known. I can't get enough of the Sons universe, and the characters are all fleshed out so well. Such an awesome story!
mistergandalf/italianhobbit: Lord have mercy. This woman may very well slay us all with angst, but we go to our deaths gladly and without complaint. Her stories are so fantastic, and her characterizations are perfect!
brihna: This lady wrote my favorite Being Human series, The War Chronicles. Let me tell you, if you haven't read this yet, you're missing out on something incredible. I'd chose her au over canon every time. Hands down.
Sue Kelley (sknkodiak): You like Young Hercules? This author wrote a fantastic story about three of the best pals ever, “Of Friends and Brothers”! Herc, Jason and Iolaus are together again, but there's a enemy from their past who intends to get rid of them for good.
Wealhtheow21: Wow, okay. You want angst? Right this way, folks! A heart stopping, soul shattering journey waits for you as you follow Fili on a journey of loss, revenge and heart break in To Find Our Long Forgotten Gold! Does it turn out for the best? Well. You'll just have to find out, won't you ;)
There are many other fics I've read, and more brilliant authors out there, so if I haven't mentioned you, please don't feel left out! I appreciate you all very much! Thank you for all the effort you've put forth to write such wonderful stories for us to enjoy!

Hello to all our fellow dwarves, elves, hobbits, men and others.
There seems to be some sort of trend going on to essentially say that Thorin is a villainous character, a bad person, and so on, while also reviving the age-old debate between the wise fair elves and greedy brutal dwarves. This pains me, and I know for a fact that others are also bothered by this biased opinion on our dwarf-king.
This is why kopperblaze and I decided to join our forces to launch a "Thorin Oakenshield Defence Squad" Campaign that will hopefully allow others who feel like us to speak up and communicate with each others.
What is it about :
Our aim is to find other bloggers willing to defend Thorin Oakenshield as a deep and complex character. This doesn't mean that we don't recognise his flaws, and that we simply want to ignore his bad actions. We simply want to state the fact that he is morally-grey and not malevolent or unworthy.
We want to make bloggers meet and exchange around the same cause, there will be no selection about who is worthy or not to take part of the project. You don't need to be deeply creative or skilled, just to be willing to join the cause. As a matter of fact, this post is a spark to ignite your creativity and celebrate the character.
We also ask you not to turn this into a project "against". That is to say that our aim is not to reverse the blame by placing it on Thranduil, Bilbo, Bard, or whoever else (except perhaps the orcs). You are entitled to your opinion, but keep in mind that if you chose to defend a character against villainization, it's deeply ironic to villainize other characters instead.
Same with Peter Jackson, his team, crew, and cast. They brought this story to life, and even if you don't approve certain choices they made, a bit of gratefulness, or at least not blatant accusations, won't kill you. Keep this a positive project and space.

- Creating posts, discussions, meta or headcanons, art, fanfic, or whatever you want defending Thorin as a mentally-grey character and tag it "ThorinDefenceSquad". That way, we can have a tag that stays positive and safe (hopefully).
- Maybe putting "Thorin Defence Squad" somewhere on your sidebar or header, or whatever. If you can find a little space.
- Nothing else. (well, you can follow other bloggers if you like, I mean there's no other requirement to join the party)
