The gayageum is a traditional 12-string musical instrument of Korea that is used to create beautiful melodies. Strings are made by twisting fine, thin threads from cocoon on royal foxglove trees. The right hand is used to pluck or flick the strings, and the left hand expresses the quivering of the sound. Gayageum emanates sad or exciting tones depending on the feeling of the performer.
