idk if this is helpful to you (because it damn sure wasn't for me), but i attended a workshop for job seekers and the current stats of the job market rn is.

80% of jobs being filled are through networking and referrals. meaning you have to know someone at whatever company you're applying to in order to get at least an interview.

that means the success rate of cold applying is only 20% :|

like we know networking is important and whatnot, but the fact that's it's now the main way to get a job or be seen is hell.

so yeah, that sent me into a panic attack last night bc it's truly over unless you know the right people or willing to put in the hours to know the right ppl.

i guess bitches with social anxiety are just supposed to fucking die, huh?

i know the department of education is not going to get off my neck. i need an income for income based loan repayment. i have plans! i want to travel, i want to get back to therapy, i want to date, i want to go out and actually have a fucking life. the furthest i've been from home is fucking florida. i can't, i can't, i can't. i keep applying for these jobs, changing resumes, drafting and revising cover letters, filling out those terrible fucking online application forms and trying to get in touch with temp agencies. everything's shit. everything's shit

hi kendra, how's the job hunt going?

i've sent out 30+ applications in june alone and received 9 rejections and no response from the rest of them in over 3-4 weeks 🥲

it's so fucking grim across all industries for a decent paying job and i just want financial freedom and the ability to finally move out of my mom's place, but still being able to support her.

i applied for a job yesterday, fingers crossed. but the rejections and ghosting have worn me thin so i barely apply anymore even though i also want my own money and my own place. it just feels demeaning at this point
