“You know... I quite like thinking that I know most things about most people worth knowing about” Jason mused, unfolding his arms to contemplate, before pointing at Korra. “But you? I really know next to nothing about you...so you’ll just need to forgive me for dropping in unannounced like this. It’s nothing personal”.

Lanterns hanging from the old temple’s pillars cast long shadows through the hall, whisps of fragrant smoke streamed through the warm, fiery glow. Iroh laid his offerings on his ancestor’s altar. Strings of meat, fruit, wine, polished white rice; standard gifts for a much venerated forefather. He did make sure to include a personal touch, burning with the food and wine a portrait of his grandfather’s dragon. Roku would be glad to know he kept up the family tradition.
Few people had the luxury of honoring their ancestor in public temples far from home, and Iroh made the most of it. “... and with this humble offering, I supplicate my honored ancestor for the wealth, happiness, longevity, fortune, and prosperity of his faithful progeny.” Igniting his gift, Iroh only then noticed he wasn’t alone in the city temple. Still, he completed his three bows, touching his forehead to the floor three times before standing and turning to greet the new Avatar.
“Korra, good to see you. Was just talking to you, after a fashion,” he remarked, smiling for his old friend.
