The spellbinding sight of Korukonda Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple perched atop a lush steep mountain overlooking the entire city is indeed a sight to behold!
Legend has it that the presiding deity, Lord Narasimha Swamy self-manifested with His consort Lakshmi Devi on top of this mountain on the request of Parasara Maharshi. Lord Narasimha Swamy is known in this shrine by the name "Satvika Narasimha" as he is always accompanied by his wife, Goddess Lakshmi Devi.
Situated in Korukonda Mandal in the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, this historic temple is a Vaishnava Sampradaya Punyakshetram. A harrowing journey through a long flight of 615 steps which are very steep, and narrow is required to reach the temple at the top.
There are two temples of Lord Sri Narasimha Swamy here; one is at the top of the hill which is about 120 metres high and the other temple at the foothills that has much-sculpted beauty around it.
Out of the two shrines, one is a Swayambhu (self-originating) and the other is Prathishta Deity (installed). The Swayambhu idol which is discovered atop the hill measures about 9 inches in height.

SRI LAKSHMI NARASIMHA SWAMY TEMPLE || It is situated in about 120 mts. height having about 615 steps which are very keen and because of this keen formation of the hill the village is named as “Korukonda”. It is really wonder and mankind could not be instate either the deity or any other stone which is about 120 mts. height, the temple which was constructed long long back have got much Silpa Soundaram around it. . .
