I hope you have a peaceful and joyful Christmas. I wasn’t going to do anything special this year. But I had a sort of last-minute change of mind and baked this kouglof. And on Christmas Eve, after my parents went to bed, I enjoyed it alone in my room with yuzu citrus liqueur. 皆さんが、平和で幸せなクリスマスを過ごされましたように。 私は今年は何も特別なことをしないつもりだったのが、土壇場で気が変わってこのクグロフを焼きまして。イブの夜は、両親が寝に行った後で、部屋で一人でそれを柚子のリキュールと一緒に楽しみました。

After all, I couldn’t resist the temptation to have a little bit Christmas decoration, too. It was too late to buy any new decoration items, but I wanted it to be different from regular years. So I omitted anything red or blue and chose white, silver, gold, green and brown things to decorate the table. (Oh, yeah. The candle was yellow. ) Just wanted to make it chic ... 結局、クグロフ食べるなら、少しはクリスマスっぽいデコレーションもしたくなり。ちょっと例年とは違う感じにしたいけど、新しく飾りを買う時間もなかったので、今年は赤や青の色を避けて、シックな色合いのものばかり選んでみました。

Then I thought, “Hey, if I want to make the decoration really different from any other year, it’s masks that symbolize the year 2020 -- the year of worldwide COVID-19 pandemic!” そのうち思いついたのが、「ほかのどの年とも違う今年を表したかったら、マスクこそが、2020年の象徴やん。世界的なコロナ禍の年の。」

So I added the masks to the decoration and posted an online Christmas card (top photo). I hope you don’t find “Christmask” offensive to Christianity. That’s not what I mean. Instead, I mean to say, “Hey, let’s think about all those healthcare workers who are having the hardest time now. And let’s wear masks so that we don’t make the situation at the hospitals worse.” で、マスクをデコレーションに加えて写真を撮り、オンライン用クリスマスカードにしてアップしました。（一番上の写真）
