xanthoriza; what’s something your character has run away from?
the things he’s done. namely, the lives he’s taken. hei despises the taking of another life, which makes it all the worse considering just how many times he has actually done so. he’s gotten fairly skilled at hiding it; at making it appear exactly as his ‘employers’ want it: like each life which ends at his hands doesn’t destroy him on the inside. so he has more a handle on his pain than havoc did ( when she began to regain her powers she broke down, terrified of herself and of seeing the faces of those she’d killed ). but rather than attempt and handle his pain, hei runs from it, as far as he can until their cries are drowned out and their faces blur against the background.
laurel; if your character could be remembered for one thing, what would it be?
hei doesn’t want to be remembered; not after what he’s done. there’s very little in his life that he’s proud of, and even the act of saving both contractors & humans in preventing the destruction of hell’s gate isn’t something he feels he has the right to be proud of. just something he had to do; after all the abilities which saved tokyo weren’t even his own to begin with. ( the only person he’d ever want to really remember him [the real him] is yin ).
oak leaves; describe a victory your character is proud of.
to an extent, i’d like to think that hei would be proud of himself for helping his teammates. despite outward appearances, he does care about them, and to be able to help them ( even in some small way ) would be counted as something of a victory. even if they don’t always actually win ( such as the situation with huang and shihoko ).
gladiolus; what is one time your character has stuck to their morals and convictions?
morals, not so much. but hei’s conviction to protect his sister — to not view her as just a senseless killer by becoming one himself — was one of the hardest ( and yet easiest ) decisions he ever made. they were all each other had and he was determined to stay with her, even if it meant becoming something he abhorred.
