Doing a project involving each of the HP Families (or the ones I care about + some OC ones) involving picking colour schemes to associate with each family. I don't want to just go red because Gryffindor and yellow because Hufflepuff, and I'm having a little trouble with some of the families. I'm kind of doing them in a random order, but some suggestions would be much appreciated.
List of families under the cut.
Headcanon I've talked about briefly is that Augusta Longbottom's birth given name is Agata Gim, and her families initially from Korea. Agata means "graceful, beautiful, blossom" (kind of, the individual parts of "a", "ga" and "ta" mean those things), and Gim means "gold or lustrous metal" and is a version of Kim, spelt more similarly to the actual pronunciation (I believe, could be wrong), and I thought these names suited her. I personally like the idea that maybe she's super harsh on Frank and Neville because she comes from an immigrant family and she wants to make sure they don't lose any respect in Britain, self-colonisation as a trauma response if you will (only way I can think to describe it, there's probably a better term out there).
Meanwhile Lothaire Longbottom's (Lothaire means "famed warrior") family was originally Chinese, with the surname just being Long, but it was changed to Longbottom generations ago so that they could fit in more with the British elites. He understands there's nothing they can do to change how they're viewed, so he's accepted that he doesn't need to fit into their rigid rules. He used to tend to the gardens and greenhouses before he died, and Augusta didn't know how to and while Frank liked bugs he wasn't good with plants, so they slowly withered away until Neville started taking an interest in Herbology. I like to think Neville turned out a lot like Lothaire.
I had an idea: Madam Pudifoot & Dominic Maestro as a ship. Do i have any evidence at all for this. no. BUT like rugged but sweet grunge man running a vintage record shop with a wife who owns a flowery pink and red cafe and calls herself cupid is just. Adorable. : D Idk what to call them. Lovesong maybe?
Puddistro could be cute (Cupidvinyl is also an option), although my age headcanons would have me probably not shipping them as teens, probably as adults, it could be totally cute. He provides the music that plays in the background of her tea shop. She visits him and leaves tea and biscuits while he works. Could be cute. I also headcanon them as Ravenclaw!Dominic and Hufflepuff!Dottie, so I'm a big fan of Ravenpuff ships. I do also have a Dominic Maestro's daughter OC (Junia Maestro, she's meant to be Sophia Barclay's paternal grandmother, I have a post talking about her and Douglas Barclay, who ends up in Dominic's care for reasons) so like there's possibility for Stepmother!Dottie.
