Sean Smith on KPTK
Just learned about this: Sean Smith, NW Regional Director of the National Parks Conservation Association, spoke on KPTK radio on Sunday, March 9. Among other topics, he spoke about the efforts of volunteers in repairing flood damage at Mount Rainier, Olympic, and North Cascades National Parks. To hear the whole conversation, go to KPTK's website and look for the Community Matters link for March 9.
PROGRE$$IVES: Seattle is in play.
Remember a couple of years ago when CBS owned a progressive talk station on Seattle? KPTK was the Space Needle City's progressive voice until the call of what they thought were higher ratings got them to change the format to all-sports.
Now it's known as KFNQ, aka The Fan 1090 AM. And it's not doing well. Since the format change, they have languished in last place of all Seattle stations subscribing to Nielsen. In September, 2014, KFNQ only managed a 0.2. All sports KJR-AM did a 1.7, and KIRO-AM did a whopping 4.5 (but then, to be fair, KIRO also has BOTH the Mariners and the Seahawks.
Now here's where PROGRESSIVE INVESTORS AND BROADCASTERS come in. CBS is planning to SELL several radio properties in medium and small markets. That Includes their Seattle holdings. And that DOES include AM 1090.
Do I have to draw a picture?
The station is a 50K watter, with great coverage of the Puget Sound, going into Canada. I guess the asking price could very well be $3-5 million. And you do have a strong local personality who would jump at the chance to come back "home" (that would be Ron Reagan, Jr.)
Just trying to put a bug in someone's ear.....
Those of you who live in the Detroit area may have heard of this fatal plane crash that took place Friday afternoon. From the moment this happened I was following the story and I have been filled with horror and terror since as the reports developed.
This plane was one of the four Cessna 172’s that my flight school owned and happened to be the plane I was scheduled to fly this morning. My instructor had to cancel because something had come up and I thank my guardian angels for protecting me and watching over me on this terrible afternoon.
I have a friend who works at the airport who watched the whole accident unfold and witnessed all four of the deaths. I can’t imagine what he felt knowing he could do nothing to help.
I have recently discovered that the pilot, Troy Brothers was a student at Western Michigan University and just received his private pilot's license a week ago. My heart goes out to Troy and I hope heaven welcomed you with open arms because you have truly reached the highest place in the sky. I keep the family of the lost loved ones in my prayers and I ask kindly that you do also.
I love you all and I pray for safe flights for the rest of our flying careers.
XOXO.
