DeathBringers:

Living forever was humanity’s greatest dream, but once it was realized, incurable ailments plagued the world. Pained by the eternal suffering around him, a young inventor named Prota set out on a quest to find the source of immortality and bring death back to the world.

Now, at the end of their long journey, Prota’s party stands face-to-face with the man who started it all… but just when they are about to defeat him, Prota is afflicted by mysterious sensations that cause him to hesitate.

Creator’s Notes:

This was quite a project, but I’m happy with how it turned out! It’s meant to look like a 2-page spread in a manga or light novel. I’m trying to decide whether to include the title and/or the chapter title on the page, or whether I want to just leave it blank. I’m not planning on having this type of “title page” for each chapter. A lot of them are going to be illustrations for scenes in the middle of the chapters, so I don’t plan on including the title on those.

This was done on Canson watercolor paper, using Sakura Pigma Microns, Mei Liang watercolors, Marie’s watercolors, Sakurai Koi watercolors, scissors, and school glue! I had to draw the tower larger or a separate sheet of paper to get all the details. Then I had to fix up some things on the tower, and I decided that would be easier to do on paper than on clip studio. So I flipped some stuff around and cut and paste parts of the tower. Then, once everything was painted and dry, I scanned both pages and put the tower onto the background!

Inktober, Day 1: Mustache

This is Krain, Prota’s vagabond friend!

Prota found him when he was at his lowest point. Krain had searched long and hard for a cure to his beloved wife Maria’s disease. After wandering for years, he had given up and resigned himself to the fact that the love of his life would have to live in agony for the rest of eternity. That was when Prota showed up and taught him about about the concept of death: A once-natural phenomenon that enabled people to move on from this plane of existence, into a world where they could be free from suffering.

The downside was that, if they succeeded in bringing back death, and Maria went on to the afterlife, Krain could never be with her again.

Krain returned to his sickly wife and asked her if he should go through with this. She was fond of the idea of another life. Though she would miss Krain dearly, she encouraged him to journey with Prota to bring back the miracle of death.

So, wanting a better life for Maria, Krain set off with Prota and his friend Tiki to turn the world back to what it once was. Many times since then, Krain has been the one to pick Prota back up onto his feet.
