We ship both international and domestic (USA)! However, this is still in the preorder phase, so we are not yet ready to ship, and don’t think we will be until mid- to late September. If you are considering purchase, please be sure to write down your long-term address, as we cannot tell right now exactly when these will ship.

If you have already purchased Ascent and your address has changed, please email us at kiribaku.ascent[at]gmail[dot]com with your Order Number and the updated address and we will make the update for you.

(We will also email all buyers a week or two before we are ready to ship to confirm your shipping addresses, as we understand they might change in the weeks since POs first opened.)

As I did some reading to sort out how best to explain this, I found a few articles that do a way better job than I could:

In short, though: introspective is fine, and imagery is important, but something happening is also key. Flash fiction should feel like a complete story, even if the story it tells is small.

There will be a Discord. It’s very helpful to have everyone join for reminders, questions, and collab work, but important communications (check-ins, etc.) will come via email.

This description was chosen because the emphasis of the project is the writing. Collections of short stories in traditional publishing are most often referred to as anthologies.

Exact pricing will be released when preorders open on July 14, but you can expect similar numbers to other fandom zines.

International shipping is definitely available! In addition, if anyone wants to arrange a local group order to consolidate costs, they can email us for a custom shipping quote when preorders begin.

And keep the digital option in mind: Ascent will also be available in traditional ebook formats for easier reading on a Kindle/Nook or other e-reader apps on your phone or tablet.

I know these things are stated on the info page but I don’t trust my eyes so I want to ask again just to make sure. All the illustrations will be black and white? Will the book have around 200 pages? Thank you for your time ;))

Your eyes haven’t deceived you! The illustrations will be black and white and the book a minimum of 200 pages. We hope you’re all excited because the WIPs are coming in and we can’t wait to start sharing sneak peeks at all the amazing work our creators have been up to!

This one gets a separate post because we know it may be disappointing for some of you. Certainly it’s possible for those under 18 to write and create art as well as someone older; skill isn’t the issue.

But while the zine’s art will be no racier than the BNHA manga as far as nudity and/or violence, the writing included can be any rating, including explicit. While there’s no law against, say, a 17-year-old checking a spicy romance novel out from their local library, we think it’s safest and more comfortable for everyone to keep this adults-only.

Also, the project is for profit, meaning contributors will receive a payout from our personal finances as a small business. While you can be employed under 18, we don’t want to get involved with those legal issues, seeking permission from parents, etc.
