Still gonna fix some the lines and maybe the shade of black I used in the foreground, but I’m proud of it.

teh paaaaaain

So...I didn’t do yoga today. Because my body refused to do anything to do with flexibility (damn you, body, for letting yourself get so out of shape!)  Also, my tiny niece/cousin has appropriated my yoga mat for her pillow fort, so really, couldn’t be helped :P

Amazingly, I did get my walk in. I saw “amazingly” not for actually being able to walk (which was really more of a zombie shuffle, cuz of how stiff I was), but because for the first half of it the air was so humid it was like trying to breathe through a feather bed, and the second half I got rained on. Yay chafing...

But I worked on some fanart for Telanadas:

I did Sasuke with the curse mark vallaslin, but stupid Photoshop didn’t save, so he’s just plain right here. I’ll fix that tomorrow when I’m not falling asleep at the computer. 

I’m still not entirely satisfied with Sakura, but the axe was fun to draw :)

I’ll eventually do Kakashi and Naruto, too, when I feel the inclination.

Shachi [first draft]

As promised, since I’m practicing with Photoshop, I did a basic drawing of Shachi. It’s kind of rough (I really need to practice shading, and I need to redo some of the lineart and finish the fan I was going to put in her hands, but over all I’m pleased with how she turned out! ^_^)

As I had mentioned before, her colouring is similar to that of the Kaguya clan, as is her hair and eyes. Face-shape wise she looks like Mikoto Uchiha, and I tried to show that she’s kind of this lithe, willowy figure, hence a very thin robe (and not as grand as someone, say, Kagyua).

The hair style is based on that found in art of the Yayoi Period in Japan (300 BCE to 300 CE), which I chose because that’s what the Kaguya clan hair looked like. Shachi’s is sort of a hybrid between a man’s hair style (gathered on the side) and a woman’s (hair gathered on top). I arranged it in a bit of a cherry-blossom shape, reminiscent of Kizashi, as a link to Sakura. Unbound, her hair is very, very long, so I’ll have to draw that out some other day :)

The outfit is also (loosely) based on a Yayoi woman’s clothing, but it’s longer and lighter. Colourwise, I was originally going to put her all in white, but that made her seem kind of austere, so I added the pink to soften her a little and, once again, as a link to Sakura.

The front-tied red obi was a stylistic choice on my part. I wanted to show that Shachi comes from a different part of the world than Indra, in terms of her clothing style (I haven’t seen him or any of the other characters wear an obi or anything similar, and not in this style.) Also red is a very significant colour in most Asian cultures.

So, there’s my headcanon version of Shachi. She may look different from how you guys pictured her, but it’s all good ^_^. I had fun drawing her and I hope you guys like her :)

Adult!Uchiwa Otsutsuki

this stubborn bastard is why i keep forgetting to eat this morning...I keep fussing about with whether I want him with a sword or a fan, and his hand refuses to cooperate and I don’t want to draw it over again but...bah. 

Anyhoo, he’s eventually going to grace the cover of the story I’m writing about him all grown up, but I thought I’d share him with you guys now in case I accidentally muck him up or something...

I might do a series of these, like the entire family or notable members of the clan or something, but we’ll see. oooh, i just had a thought...maybe I should draw Teisoko too, before she got all creepy and insane... *muses*

OC - Manako [lineart practice]

So I’ve been playing around with Photoshop trying to get comfortable with doing the whole digital art thing. Figuring out layers and brushes and paths and shit (my brain hurts now), and this is what I was working on today while screwing around on the computer. Based it off a panel in the manga of Hana Inuzuka. 

It’s not the best it could be, but hey, it’s Manako (age 18 at this point); she doesn’t have the Inuzuka facial tattoos because she’s the younger female in the family (Hana and Kiba both have them because they are respectively the first female child and first male child; it’s just a headcanon I have). Also, she isn’t a big fan of long, drawn-out and painful procedure (ie tattooing), but she’s okay with piercings because it’s quick. 

Am I rambling? I’m rambling.

Anyway, I had to fix her hair a couple of times because she kept coming out looking like Karin, and since this isn’t coloured I couldn’t just change her hair colour so people would know. :P But I think I got Tsume’s eyes right and she looks enough like Hana and Kiba to be related. And I cheated and used Hana’s lips because at that point I just didn’t have anymore patience. I’ll fix it tomorrow maybe?

Anyway, if I get more comfortable with the digital medium, I’ll draw Manako at various ages. And maybe Shachi, too, since a lot of people were asking me what she looked like.

Can I just say it feels really weird to have the freedom to do this stuff? Like, good weird. I’m starting to be able to drown out that annoying voice that keeps telling me that I don’t have the time to spend on my hobbies, or that my work-prep is more important than anything else and why am I wasting my time on this?. It’s not something I’m able to do every day, but the chest-clutching feeling is fading enough that I can actually enjoy writing or reading or drawing again.

Now, if only I could figure out how to balance all that with a job, living a health lifestyle and being *slightly* more social, that’d be great. Anyone have a cheat code?
