I’m working on this for my friend as a VERY LATE Christmas present. She just started her first job teacher and she loves diet Coke, so I wanted to do a piece inspired by vintage Coke ads. She’s supposed to be holding a bottle of Coke. I’m have a really hard time getting the neck and legs to feel right, and also finding the balance between “inspired by pinups/vintage ads” and “appropriate for a high school teacher”

It can be difficult to draw limbs that overlap each other, I suggest drawing in different colors! In this example I drew the body first, I then picked blue and drew the leg that wasn’t overlapping the other, once I understood how the blue leg would sit I drew the second leg in purple. It gets much easier this way and there’s less room for confusion! Overall I found your drawing to be very charming and I love your style! Thank you for your submission!

Recently I did a piece for Light Grey Art Lab’s Small Art for a Big Cause show! It was a fun chance to draw some of my favorite subjects- plants and animals. Pick up a print by following this link- a portion of the profit goes to the ACLU!
