The background in this piece is a real spot in a restaurant in Peru :D. I went there to take photos to use for my background, mainly because of the view.

It's been 84 years but this was my piece for the Code Red jaytim zine from last year.

I had always wanted to try my hand at art nouveau and after a lot of thought, I came up with this. I love red spider lilies for Jason, I think they fit him perfectly. They are generally associated with death but also reincarnation. They are actually dangerous to touch... but look deadly beautiful. As for his statue it is meant to be the Vermillion Bird (Zhuque). Tim was a bit trickier because I was looking for a pretty flower that would counter and contrast against Jason's, both in significance and aesthetically. I ended up going for white lilies since it is also related to rebirth and new beginnings. It's also related to purity and innocence but I don't think this boy is exactly pure, in fact maybe he needs to be exorcised (?). Though one can argue, the boy that stepped up and went on a quest to look for Dick Grayson to ask him to take the Robin mantle again and uttered the words "Batman needs a Robin" may be too innocent for his own good. Tim sits on a dragon because although I embrace his ducky-self, he will always be a dragon to me. In this case, Azure Dragon.
