can you advise on how to get into roleplaying on mewe? not in a group, a 1x1
Sure! I can report on what I've seen people do, though this might not be what everyone does.
Your account
Option 1: multi faceclaim
Make a mewe or clear out an old one and make the name and photo something that is either an oc name or a random set of words like Orange Sunset
You'll be able to change the photo of your mewe account in a group so the easiest way to roleplay with someone in this is to make a private group with them and then change the photo to your account in that group and write in the dm chat for that group or posts in that group
Option 2: one faceclaim
Make a mewe with your desired faceclaim and photo and roleplay with people in private groups, events, or dm's. You don't have to photo change for exchanges unless you want a custom look
What to do with your account
Use an account that you already use for an rp
In this case no one inside the rp can see your chat requests if you have chats with people outside the group.
As long as you establish that the 1x1 roleplaying isn't related to the roleplay you're in, then this is a good option to keep everything in one place
Use an account just for 1x1
Make an account just for 1x1 purposes that's not in a roleplay. In this case you can add whoever you want to your contacts without worrying about breaking roleplay rules
How to Roleplay on Mewe
As stated above on mewe you use private groups, private events, group direct messages, or regular direct messages to chat and thread.
Private groups
Make a group that's selective so you can link someone to join (you don't even have to be mutual contacts) have them join it and then we recommend making it private. You can rp like normal in the posts and use the chat
Events
Create an open event (it could have even happened in the past. past events won't go away) Uncheck post event to wall before you created it. It'll give you a group like space with a chat and wall to write in but it'll be categorized in events. Share the event link with the person you're writing with so they can join. We recommend switching the event to private once they're in. It can be private initially if you're mutual contacts.
DM's
You could use dm's with people you're not contacts with if chat requests are open, once you have an established chat with someone it will bring the dm into your regular dm's and out of chat requests
Double DM's
Create a group chat with two contacts, title the group chat a specific name, you can even change the photo. After you do that, kick the third person out and you'll have a second dm to write with someone in. You can do this on most mobile devices now (it used to not be an option on mobile)
Settings for your Mewe Account
Public Profile
"Public profiles allow others on MeWe to follow you and see your follow list. Your posts are visible to everyone on and outside of MeWe."
If you don't mind people seeing your wall pots or follow lists you can have a public profile. (I believe) People will be able to add you as a contact without your approval, and send you dm's without it going into chat requests. We don't recommend doing this for privacy reasons. However, you can keep things private if you don't post anything and use private groups, chat requests, and private events to roleplay.
Private Profile
In Privacy & Sharing you uncheck the public profile section and definitely the mewe search section. You can still link people to your mewe account but they'll need to communicate by either sending you a contact request and dming you or using chat requests
Chat Requests
Are how you communicate with people who are not your mutual contacts. Turn on Chat requests in Privacy & Settings to enable this feature.
For mobile there's a section at the top now that says (All People Groups Events Requests) Your chat requests should pop up in requests.I believe if you reply to them there it'll pull the chat into your people section without you having to add them as a contact.
For Web Browser go to your dm's and hit the three dots at the top of the side bar. Click chat requests to reveal your chat requests and reply to them there. Once you have an established chat they should pull it into the people section of your dm's without adding them as a contact. (I haven't tested this feature since the new ui)
How to tell people about your mewe account
Link people directly to your mewe account
You can link people directly to your mewe account even if it's private and they can send you a chat request or a contact requests to start writing with you
Create a selective group
Create a group and set the privacy settings to selective (we recommend not check the allow mewe discovery button because non rpers will find you).
You can even have people who request to join your group answer questions like what they want to write with you or where they found you.
Share the link to that group and when people request to join, send them a chat request or add them as a contact to start roleplaying.
There isn't even a need to add anyone to the group.
How to find people to add
You can find rp partners in our community, tumblr itself, (there's a few other resources on tumblr) and asianfanfics. If there's another resource for krp please let me know
Our Community
Send an anonymous post or post with your tumblr. Link your selective group or mewe account in the post, or share your mewe account through tumblr dm's with people who respond to your 1x1 ad
You can also link your mewe account or selective mewe group in the comments if you only want people in our specific community to see these links.
Other tumblr sources
Other resources have ways to send 1x1 call outs too where you can link your mewe account or selective mewe group.
Or you can use tumblr 1x1 tags on a regular post to find people to write with. Same as above you can directly link your mewe, your selective mewe group, or use comments or dm's to communicate with people.
Asianfanfics
Use an aff account or make an aff account.
Post a story that contains info about what you're looking for. Specify that you're interested in plotting and threading to avoid people who are looking for ooc contacts or chat based rp that doesn't always include roleplaying. Use tags on your post like roleplaying, freelancerp, flrp, 1x1, and 1x1rp
Then once it's posted, make a chapter and delete it whenever you want to boost it to the top of the tags. (we recommend doing this as soon as it's posted too)
You can either link your mewe or mewe selective group directly in your story or you can have people message you privately on aff to discuss writing and share your link from there. (just make sure you set your privacy settings to have your aff private messages open and your aff profile open for people to see)
Most aff roleplayers use discord but some use mewe

People like mewe for many reasons but one bonus is that mewe allows roleplayers as long as you specify your account is a fan account and not representing your faceclaim or affiliated with them.
