Krumpe’s Do-nuts Hagerstown, Maryland
Krumpe’s is open from 7pm - 2am, Sunday - Friday. I mean, that in itself makes it intriguing enough to make the 35 mile journey from where I was in Pennsylvania! So it was that I, along with several castmates from a show I was in, caravanned down after a show.
A Hagerstown tradition since 1936, when German born Rudolf Max Albert Lewis Krumpe opened “Mother Krumpe’s Do-nut”, his son, Max, took over the wholesale delivery business in 1947 and in 1950 moved the shop behind his house. It was then that customers would start coming late at night when the donuts were being made, asking if they could purchase them there. And so, the tradition of late night donut drives began. And the world was made a better place for it. And stoners no longer only had Taco Bell when the hunger cravings set in.
What I had:
Uh, well, I had 5 donuts that night.
-Hot and fresh glazed yeast. 2 of them. Delicious sweetness
-Cinnamon Sugar Apple Filled. Like an apple pie. Gorgeous!
-Cream Filled, Chocolate Glazed. Not too heavy or sweet. Loved it.
-Eclair. Chocolate. Maybe started feeling gluttonous after this one.
Verdict: An incredibly unique and fun experience and amazing, no fuss and classic donuts. Highly Recommended
