To ur "is that a wizard" tag- it's Gandalf!! There's a scene in the hobbit books and movies where he literally collects on a favor from the Eagles (which are frickin HUGE) to save him and the hobbits from 1) falling to their doom or 2) being mauled by orcs in a burning tree. He's riding on the literal king of Eagles. But also I'm probably missing bits/details bc I read the hobbit in high school. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
