       it had been a long time since dick got to go out with kara, she was so refreshing. it was nice to get away from the darkness of bludhaven and the negativity of bruce and everyone and just be with someone who made him smile. it’s why he invited her to this dinner. it was a nice chance for them to just talk and not have to worry about anyone else. 

       “ seriously, ” he muttered, putting another forkful in his mouth before, rather gracefully, attempting to speak through it. “ i’ve been thinking about asking you to do this for months, but i never had the time and you’re always busy with your thing during the day.  i don’t know, maybe i should’ve just stopped overthinking it and asked, i mean, you said yes, didn’t you? ”
