Is there a social class? Like do they have a hierarchy for life? If so, who's at the top? Who's at the bottom?

Hmm… well, not really! The only real “hierarchy” they have is based off if you use magic or not. Those that don’t tend to fill more “lower class” roles. And within the magic users, they’re separated into questors and just regular old sorcerers! There’s not really a ruler over the whole world, but there are leaders that oversee certain parts of the land, and work together in a council of sorts to make sure everyone’s doing alright and not murdering each other or being crazy with their magic. if anyone doesn’t like a member in the council, they can go ahead and challenge them for their position. It makes for some pretty cool magic duels, and regular duels too (since it’s highly frowned upon to fight a non-magic user with magic, and often results in whoever violates it getting kicked off the council or out of a job)

overall it’s pretty chill. everyone just kinda does what they want, as long as the council hasn’t outlawed it.
