Where in the World is Jai Paul?!
If anyone has seen or knows the whereabouts of one Jai Paul please tell him we were not “fucking with him” and we LOVE his music! (official or unofficial)
It was a fateful afternoon in April of 2011 when XL Recordings released “BTSU” shook the music blogsphere so instantaneously, it was as if the earthquake destined to tear California from its nation hit in the form of a record. Dont believe me? Just look at how quickly Drake used it to sample in “Dreams Money Can Buy”
Only few knew that this journey began back in 2007 during an hour studio session!
So where is he now? Well, every April since XL exposed him to us, he has taken time out to make rare appearances to society. Whether it be in April 2012 with an amazing single record simply entitled “Jasmine” followed by another year from the spotlight. Or in April 2013 when he emerged only to crush hopes that the debut album music aficionados salivated over was “unofficial” . .
. . and disappeared again, this time for good?
Some things we’ll never know, but instead of contemplation I chose to use this April to commemorate the little we did see and hear of the unique style that is Jai Paul.
