The former KTVI anchor/reporter faces first-degree murder charges in the murder of her mother.
During the early-to-mid 2010s here in STL, this murder suspect graced our TV screens on KTVI and KPLR as an anchor and reporter, and it lasted from 2011 to 2015. Prior to her stint at KTVI/KPLR, she worked at various stations in Oklahoma City, Missoula, Austin (MN), and Lincoln. She graduated from Rosemount High School in Rosemount, Minnesota and later St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Her name is Angie Mock, who faces first-degree murder charges for the stabbing and killing of her mother Anita Avers on Halloween morning in Wichita, Kansas. She was booked at 2:22PM CDT at the Sedgwick County Jail on Halloween. As for Avers, she did not deserve this fate at all. She was a marriage and family counselor.
KAKE (Wichita ABC) (10.31.2025):
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Wichita police say an 80-year-old woman who was stabbed Friday morning has died, and they’ve arrested her daughter for murder. Officers responded at around 7:50 a.m. to a reported cutting at a home in the 1500 block of East Crowley, near Wassall and Hydraulic. They arrived to find the 47-year-old suspect outside the home with cuts on her hands. Inside the residence, officers found Anita Avers unresponsive in her bed with multiple stab wounds. EMS took Avers to a local hospital, where she died just before 8:30 a.m. Jail records identify the suspect as 47-year-old Angelynn Mock, who is in jail for murder in the first degree.

Miller confirmed that the two women are related, and said the incident was a domestic dispute. Sedgwick County Jail records show that 47-year-old Angelynn Mock has been charged with first-degree murder and was booked into the jail yesterday around 2:20 p.m. Mock was a morning anchor for Fox 2 KTVI from 2011 to 2014. Before that, she worked in television in Oklahoma, Montana and Nebraska, according to her online resume. An investigation is ongoing.

They said they were met in the street by a 47-year-old woman with cuts to her hand. Police Capt. Roderick Miller said they went inside the south Wichita residence and found an 80-year-old woman, Anita Avers, unresponsive in her bed and suffering from multiple stab wounds. Both women, Miller said, were taken to hospitals in critical condition. The older woman died at the hospital. The 47-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of first degree murder, police said. “Right now, we believe it was a domestic-type situation inside the residence,” Miller said.
