#kuchi ire

This was the process I went through to make the palm sized plane. This plane is very versatile and with enough practice I got it to take awesome shavings. The closer is made of Cocobolo and I used an old dai from a bonito flake plane ( forgot the name right now).

I fitted a kuchi ire sliding dovetail pin in my swedish steel plane. Now the mouth of my plane has an opening of around 0.4mm, allowing me to plane rather complicated grain. I made the kuchi ire of Makassar, for lack of anything else :) The surface this plane now leaves is nearly glass like and absolutely clean! Love it :)
