A Storm

Date: 1845
Medium: Oil on canvas
Collection: Kunst Museum Panbo, Denmark
Description
Christoffer Wilhelm carried out a painting in which he further varied the street scene with figures in windy weather. In the painting, which Eckersberg himself dubbed" A Storm", he tried to paint a phenomenon, which no painters have previously painted, dust clouds swirl up from the street because of the strong wind". A group of people are exposed to the dust and the wind. Two women have difficulty keeping their scarves on their heads and a gentleman tries to keep his hat on his head, while a little street urchin (gadedreng) is running after his hat.
