MCU - Miss Romanoff by kurimja
Okay so I decided on a cosplay and I based it off of @kurimja s Steampunkstuck Vriska. !!!All art credit goes to them the only thing I've done is make the patterns for the cosplay it's self!!!
for kurimja - her noire and my blanche. i wanted to try my hand at cute again.
Hello! Just wondering how you did your collar for Ballgown Dreamer Kanaya? I'm doing Mookie's Roxy design and seeing as how the collar is so closely fitted to her neck like Kanaya's, I'm fiddling with a few ideas on how to make it work without squashing my head through it. Currently I'm leaning towards fastenings at the front tips to clip together once around my neck. Would you mind sharing how you made your collar? It just looks so nicely done.
My ballgown collar was honestly one of the weirdest pieces of crap that I've had to draft a pattern for. It doesn't connect in the front, but rather in the back with a magnetic snap between the seam line between two of the colored stripes. Honestly I'm kind of embarrassed to show how I did it because I had these lofty dreams of precision and it ended up being more of a matter of capping the ends with cardboard and hot glue and smashing things to deform the cardboard until things looked kind of acceptable.
The other detail I tried for was that I sewed the short edges of the stripes together first and then used the final long seam to attach the lace to the collar, so there was only one seam going length-wise around the collar.
Here's the basic process of how I drafted the collar, minus a lot of the expletives I wanted to put in there.
Some quick snaps of that costume I've been working on for the last month: STEAMPUNK ROSE The original design was by Kurimja and I've loved it since I first laid eyes on it. Realizing I had 90% of the fabric hanging around from hat supplies and a failed Naruto costume plan a decade ago, I went ahead and did it. Total cost of new fabric was about $40 bucks! I'm wearing a corset and spanx with it, to get that awesome smooth hourglass shape, and the underskirt is skintight and doesn't stretch so I couldn't sit down, and could only shuffle to walk. I think I amused a lot of people walking back to the hotel at a crawl. XD (I need to fix that.) It's also about half handsewn. If you told me three years ago that I'd make two costumes in the span of months that were mostly done by hand instead of machine, I'd have laughed myself silly. Oh, how we change. Now I need to find a con to wear this to and get a proper photoshoot, or plan to do photos with a local photog sometime!
happy birthday kurimja!
thank you for all those years~
The picture I'm using as my icon now was drawn by kurimja, by the way. :)
