“I have fans. More fans than you to be exact.”
“Miyuki Kazuya!” the pitchers voice rang out from across the indoor practice area, “You said you would catch for me tonight!”
Miyuki was in the middle of catching pitches for Kawakami as Sawamura was being as loud as always. Miyuki threw the pitch back to Nori and complimented the pitch before answering Eijun. “I didn’t say I would, I said I might, depending on how I was feeling.”
“Minor details, Miyuki Kazuya! I threw a really nice pitch to Ono-senpai earlier and I don’t want to forget how it felt, so catch for me!” He continued to speak, voice just high enough to make Miyuki flinch.
Catching another one of Kawakami’s pitches, Miyuki answered. “In case you can’t tell, I’m catching for Nori right now.” He paused, glancing over at the pouty boy before returning his attention to Norifumi. “Why didn’t you just keep having Ono catch for you?”
Sawamura’s face tinted a shade of red and he became quiet for what seemed like the first time that day. He turned his face away and began to mumble, “Because you said you would catch for me…”
It was really unlike Kazuya to be thrown off his game by anyone, but Eijun was different. Miyuki noticed the shyness of the boy and almost failed to catch Kawakami’s pitch.
Miyuki motioned to Kawakami a “sorry” because he knew that until the issue with Eijun was resolved, he wouldn’t be able to catch well for Nori. Kawakami understood and left to go shower as Miyuki approached Eijun.
“You really never take a break do you, Bakamura?” Miyuki said, shaking his head at Sawamura.
“I can’t afford to take a break! Ever since my amazing performance at nationals, I have to practice hard so I don’t disappoint my fans!” Eijun replied, as proud as could be.
“Fans?” Miyuki laughed so hard his gripped his stomach, “What ‘fans’ are you talking about?”
Sawamura was practically steaming. “I have fans! More fans than you to be exact!”
Miyuki’s eye brow shot up. “Oh, is that so? You sound pretty confident about that.”
“Of course I’m confident! I am a man of my word.” Eijun replied, chest puffed out and head held high.
Miyuki smirked his signature smirk and tapped Eijun’s chest, looking him straight in the eyes. “Then let’s make a bet.If you have more fans, then I’ll catch for you,” he said, watching the younger boy’s face light up with joy, then immediately go back to a straight face.
“And if you have more fans? Which you don’t, what would happen?” Sawamura asked, putting major emphasis on don’t.
Miyuki chuckled once more, and brought his mouth right next to Sawamura’s ear before speaking. “If I have more fans then you take me on a date.”
Miyuki didn’t even have to look at Sawamura’s face to know he was blushing from ear to ear. He laughed once more and walked out of the practice area as he heard Eijun yell “Miyuki Kazuya!” from behind him.
I’ll see you next off day, Miyuki thought to himself. This should be fun.
