Hello, everyone! I am happy to present my story for the @nekomabigbang! Be sure to check out the art that my partner Alex made, which you can find here!
“Ugh. I am beat!” Tetsurō groaned, letting all his bags and overnight supplies fall unceremoniously from his shoulders onto the floor of the hotel room. In the spirit of team bonding, the Nekoma volleyball team would be staying in the same hotel as the Karasuno boys were sprawled across the fifth floor, while their rival team was staying on the floor above. They were all in adjoining rooms, so they’d just opened up the sliding doors to make one huge room where they were currently laying out their futons.
Kenma glanced up from his futon, where he was huddled playing his portable gaming system. Apparently he’d forgone a shower for now because his hair was still sticking to his forehead where it had dried with sweat.
“Going to sleep already?” Kenma asked as Tetsurō laid out his futon and immediately collapsed into it without bothering to change out of his uniform. Tetsurō grumbled something along the lines of “I’m tired as shit” while he snuggled into the blankets, wiggling like a worm because it was too much effort to lift his arms. Not even the hum of conversation echoing through the room could prevent him from achieving that sweet, sweet nirvana of post-workout sleep.
Tetsurō then sprawled on his belly on his futon, face smushed into the pillow and purrs nearly rumbling from his chest as he basked in lazy contentment. He nuzzled into the soft fabric with a small croon, allowing himself to drift down into the warm embrace of sleep. As the bubble of gray-white enveloped him and he rested at the precipice of unconsciousness, the door slammed open, and he nearly jumped out of his skin.
“Oi!” Morisuke shouted, the rapid pounding of his footsteps up to his futon making Tetsurō’s grimace deepen. Morisuke jabbed him in the ribs with his toes, making Tetsurō whine and roll onto his side. “Get up, you lazy old bum! We’re going to play spin-the-bottle with the Karasuno third-years.”
“Spin-the-bottle?” he said, sitting up to rest his cheek in his hand. His eyes were still lidded, clinging to the sweet embrace of sleep, as he looked at Morisuke. He covered his mouth with his hand as he yawned, considering the notion. Spin-the-bottle certainly sounded fun, but… sleeping sounded so nice, too.
“Kiyoko will be there,” Kenma piped up over the beeping of his gaming system. This thought brought a sultry smirk to his face. Kiyoko was stunningly gorgeous, and to say he had fantasized about giving her a little smooch was an understatement. Spin-the-bottle might be the perfect opportunity to finally make a move.
He rose languidly from the futon, stretching his arms above his head to pop his back, then let his arm fall to his sides.
“Sure, sounds like fun. Let’s go.”
“Sap,” Kenma snorted, then yelped when Tetsurō kicked him in the leg. “Hey!”
Morisuke’s giggles floated through the hall as he hurried toward the elevator like some sort of gremlin.
“Hurry up, hurry up!” he whined as Nobuyuki and Tetsurō followed at a more leisurely pace. He jammed the “up” button on the wall repeatedly, not that it would make the elevator any faster. Tetsurō and Nobuyuki joined him just as the elevator door opened with a pleasant chime, and Morisuke jumped into it with glee. They selected the sixth floor, and up they went.
“Ahhh, I hope I get to kiss Kiyoko,” Morisuke sighed with a dreamy expression on his face.
“Be careful, or her defense squad might jump you when we get there,” Tetsurō chuckled. He’d only been joking, but when the elevator door opened, they were in fact met with a very irritated Ryūnosuke and Yū. Their sixth sense when it came to their beautiful manager certainly was impressive.
“You louts better not lay a finger on our Kiyoko-chan!” Yū asserted, pointing a finger threateningly at them. “Or you’ll have to deal with us!”
“Um, we’re playing spin-the-bottle,” Tetsurō snorted, pushing his way past the two second-years. They scurried after him, huffing in offense. “You two are just jealous that it’s just third-years only~”
“Damn rooster head!” Ryūnosuke snapped. “We will not allow you to sully our pure Kiyoko-chan! En guarde!”
Tetsurō looked back to see that the younger boy had fallen into some crazy martial arts stance, with Yū mimicking beside him. As entertaining as playing with Kiyoko’s groupies was, he wasn’t in the mood to indulge their antics today. He just shook his head and walked to the room where the third-years had decided to play, opening the door to let Nobuyuki and Morisuke pass.
“Later, adorable kouhai~” Tetsurō teased before slipping into the room, leaving the two to just wail their lament to the heavens— or rather, the fluorescents in the hotel hallway.
The rest of the third-years had already gathered in a circle at the center of the room, sitting on pillows stolen from the futons. An empty lemon-lime soda rested on the floor between them, its green translucent surface glinting underneath the fluorescents. He sat down so his knee was drawn up to his chest, allowing him to rest his elbow on his knee and lean his cheek in his hand and watch the others with lidded eyes.
Koshi and Daichi were hyping a very nervous Asahi, who was looking at the bottle like it had punched him in the gut. He stared at it with sweat beading on his forehead, looking a little green in the face. Nobuyuki reclined on his hands with his legs crossed, smirking slightly as he watched poor Asahi struggle to reconcile with what was about to happen. Morisuke was sitting on his legs, bouncing up and down with excitement as his eyes gleamed mischievously. And Kiyoko— pretty Kiyoko just stared at the bottle with quiet interest, looking as if she really didn’t care one way or another about the game.
One girl, six guys. Oh, Tetsurō couldn’t wait for the shenanigans to begin.
“All right, all right, no more dragging our feet!” Morisuke declared, leaning over to grab the side of the bottle. With a flick of his fingers, he gave it a spin, sending it twirling against the wooden floor. They watched with bated breath as the bottle slowed, drifting to a stop in front of Tetsurō. The ravenette preened in amusement, then rolled his head on his neck to grin at him.
“What’s the matter, Yakkun? Don’tcha want to gimme a kiss?” he purred, tilting his head to tap the pad of his index finger against his cheek. “Come on, I’ll even take it easy on you and say you can give me just a little peck on the cheek.”
“Fuck off!” Morisuke snapped and puffed out his cheeks in defiance. “Who do I think I am? I’m not gonna half-ass anything, so pucker up, you damn jackass!”
As Tetsurō reeled in surprise, Morisuke boosted himself up onto his knees to slap his hands onto Tetsurō’s cheeks and yank his face down. He wasn’t sure what hurt more— the pain shooting down his neck from the awkward angle or how dry Morisuke’s lips were as they smashed against his. After a few seconds— because rules were rules— they sprang apart.
Tetsurō tenderly rubbed the red handprints burning on his cheeks while he muttered, “Damn, Yakkun, you should have at least put some chapstick on before the game. Your crusty-ass lips nearly cut me…”
“Oh, fuck you!”
“Whoa, whoa, we’re just playing spin-the-bottle here,” Tetsurō grinned, still holding his hands to his stinging cheeks. “Later, okay?” He laughed as Morisuke shoved him hard in the shoulder, sending him careening into Nobuyuki’s lap. His vice captain just raised an eyebrow at him as he cackled hysterically, holding his belly as his whole body shook. Morisuke continued to pout in embarrassment, nearly curled up in a ball with his arms crossed and hunching over his crossed legs. Tetsurō crooned apologetically as he finally pulled himself back up into a sitting position, though it didn’t sound very genuine with the little giggles still sneaking out of his mouth.
“Aw, come on, Yakkun, I was only teasing.”
“I hate you,” the shorter boy grumped, leaning away from Tetsurō to show his displeasure. “Embarrassing me in front of Karasuno…”
“All right, all right,” Daichi hummed, holding up his hands placatingly. Ever the diplomat, that guy. “Let’s just keep playing, guys.” He reached forward to grab the bottle, giving it a strong spin. The glass rattled against the wood as it whipped around. They all watched with eager eyes as it gradually slowed, then whistled appreciatively when the slim neck of the bottle came to rest towards Koshi.
“Aw, that’s not fair,” Tetsurō rumbled, resting his cheek in his hand while he grinned at the two. “It’s no fun if Daichi has to kiss his boyfriend.”
“You sure do have a lot to say,” Daichi smirked with raised eyebrows, not taking the bait. “I wonder if you’ll still be as talkative when it’s your turn.”
Tetsurō just raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Daichi’s challenge. The dark-haired boy then turned to Koshi, who seemed equally unbothered that he was about to lock lips with his best friend. Hell, maybe there was more merit to Tetsurō’s teasing than would meet the eye. As the smirk spread over Tetsurō’s mouth, Daichi caught it out of the corners of his eyes. He flipped the Nekoma captain off while he leaned forward to press his lips to Koshi’s. He held the kiss for several seconds before pulling back.
“You damn schemer, I see you smirking over there.”
“Who? Me?” Tetsurō feigned innocence, splaying his hand over his heart in mock hurt. “I’m not scheming anything…”
“A lie if I’ve ever heard one,” Koshi chuckled, then reached forward to spin the bottle now that it was his turn. By some divine providence, the bottle came to rest on Daichi. “Heh, round two, I guess,” he laughed, then gave his best friend another peck on the lips. They finished with little fanfare, and then it was Asahi’s turn to spin the bottle.
“Do I really have to do this?” the tall brunet groaned, wringing his hands while he stared at the bottle like it might sting him or something.
“Ahh, come on, Asahi!” Daichi pushed, holding his ankles while he leaned forward to smirk at him. “You don’t have to kiss anybody if you don’t want to, but lighten up a little! None of us will bite!”
“Well, unless you’re into that,” Tetsurō teased, and he reveled in the bright pink blush that instantly coated Asahi’s cheeks. It seemed he was learning all sorts of curious things about their rival team, he considered with a mischievous chuckle.
Asahi swallowed nervously, then reached forward to quickly flick the bottle into a spin before he could change his mind. The lemon-lime soda bottle jumped a little at his vigorous movement, and Tetsurō leaned back on his hands, eager to see the result. He raised his eyebrows in glee when the bottle came to rest on Nobuyuki, who just cocked an eyebrow in interest. Asahi, on the other hand, looked like he was about to faint.
“I-I’m sorry!” the brunet stammered on reflex, and Nobuyuki just laughed good-naturedly.
“It’s just a game. There’s no need to get so high-strung,” he hummed. Knowing that Asahi was going to just sit there frozen, Nobuyuki crawled forward on his hands and knees, careful not to send the bottle skittering.
“Remember, rules are rules! He’s gotta kiss you!” Morisuke chirped, apparently recovered from his earlier embarrassment as he was now watching the game with immense glee. Asahi groaned loudly, apparently hoping that Nobuyuki would just plop a kiss on his cheek and be done with it. Nobuyuki laughed before turning his face, presenting his cheek for the nervous boy. Asahi jerked forward, but instead of pecking Nobuyuki on the cheek, he accidentally slammed his forehead into the side of his head.
“I’m so sorry!” he wailed in dismay, holding the pink spot blooming on his forehead, while Nobuyuki grunted and reached up to nurse the likely bruised area over his temple. Koshi and Daichi were cracking up, holding their bellies while they cackled, while Kiyoko reached out to put a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
“There’s no need to be so nervous,” she reassured him, and then her eyes flickered to Tetsurō. Well that’s interesting, he thought with a slight tilt of his head, and he had to use all his willpower to suppress his glee as a faint haze of pink appeared on her cheeks. She hurriedly looked back to Asahi and continued, “It’s only a game, after all.”
“Right. Just a game,” Asahi echoed in a small voice. He took a deep breath, then swiftly lunged forward to press a swift kiss to Nobuyuki’s cheek. Given how nervous he was, no one begrudged him for not holding it for very long. Nobuyuki returned to his spot beside Tetsurō, while Asahi slumped down, looking like he was about to melt into a pile of steaming goo. He scrunched up his eyes tiredly, whining a little, while Koshi patted him affirmatively on the back.
“Good job, Asahi! Now recuperate until your next turn.”
“I have to do this again?”
Kiyoko ignored the boys’ bickering to lean forward, using one hand to turn her waves of black hair behind her ear. As she grabbed the bottle, her eyes flickered up to meet Tetsurō’s again— and there it was, that faintest sheen of blush spreading over her pretty face. Tetsurō watched, intrigued, as she flicked the bottle and hastily straightened up to watch it spin. Around and around and around it went, until slowly, it came to rest pointing right at Tetsurō.
There was a collective jealous whine.
“Of course he’d get to kiss the pretty girl,” Morisuke grumped, pushing his fist into his cheek while he hunched over to sulk.
“Ahh, don’t sulk, Yakkun,” Tetsurō grinned while rolling his shoulders. “I’ll give you another kiss, if that’s what you want.” Morisuke shot him a scowl, pulling his lips down until the pink of his gums showed, and Tetsurō just tipped back his head in laughter. After leaning forward again, he fixed his gray eyes on the pretty girl before him, who was staring at him with just the faintest bit of apprehension on her face.
“Don’t be shy now, doll,” he purred, crooking his finger in a “come hither” gesture. He couldn’t help the pleased lilt to his smirk as her cheeks brightened to a light pink hue. “Like Daichi said, I don’t bite.”
“Unless I’m into that?” Kiyoko scoffed, but Tetsurō didn’t miss the little smile that appeared on her plump pink lips. She slowly leaned forward to put her hands on the floor, fluttering her lashes as she began the steady crawl across the small circle to Tetsurō. He was hypnotized by the gentle sway of her hips as she moved forward. Her hair fell from behind her ears to curtain over her neck, shiny and smooth in the white-yellow light of the fluorescents. Anticipation thrummed in his chest and he found himself leaning forward, hyper-focused on those delectable lips he’d been dreaming about.
“Charrrrrrge!”
Kiyoko stopped and whipped her head over her shoulder just in time to see the sliding door to the adjacent room fling open. Yū and Ryūnosuke, with headbands tied around their heads, leaped into the room, bowling over Daichi and Koshi in the process. Kiyoko squealed as the two boys clambered on either side of her to full-on tackle Tetsurō to the ground. While Yū straddled his chest, a triumphant grin on his boyish face, his compatriot pranced around Tetsurō’s sprawled-out body and beat on his chest like an ape.
“Just what do you think you’re doing?” Kiyoko cried, sitting up on her knees and throwing her disarrayed hair over her shoulder. Beaming like happy puppies, the two boys looked at her, just begging for praise.
“We’re defending your honor, of course, Kiyoko-chan!” Yū chirped.
“Yeah, did you really think we would allow your first kiss to go to a bastard rooster head like him?” Ryūnosuke added with a huff, looking down at the Nekoma captain in disdain. “We have been standing by this entire time to protect our lovely maiden from such a horrid fate!”
Tetsurō sat up as little as he could with a groan. Crowding the doorway were the rest of the Karasuno team. He released an annoyed huff when Chikara just smiled apologetically and mouthed, “Sorry.” AS the two boys continued to harass Tetsurō, Kiyoko just sat up on her knees, staring with wide eyes.
“Come on, you two, that’s enough,” Daichi scolded, sitting up from where he’d been so rudely flung aside by his two underclassmen. “Kiyoko agreed to play this game, and that means she is well aware that there is kissing involved.”
“But—!” Yū started to protest.
“That’s enough!” Kiyoko barked, stopping him in his tracks. They all gaped in stunned silence at Kiyoko, whose face was flushed bright red. She had her fists balled up tight at her sides, so tight that her knuckles glared white and her arms shook. Her eyebrows narrowed down into sharp peaks, and despite the absolutely terrifying sight of her fury, Tetsurō also thought it was incredibly sexy.
“I’m not some princess who needs guarding!” Kiyoko snapped. The two boys cowered down, and Tetsurō could almost envision tails tucked between their legs and floppy ears pressed flat to their heads. “You’ve taken your antics too far this time! You have no right to infringe upon my life like this! What does it matter if my first kiss is in some stupid spin-the-bottle game? What if I’d agreed to this game because I wanted to kiss Tetsurō in the first place?”
There was a dense silence as Kiyoko’s words hung heavy in the air. She sat there, panting heavily with her face a bright red hue, and then she gasped. Realizing what she had actually said, the color slowly drained from her face until it was ghostly white. She slowly lifted a hand to her mouth, covering it like she could force the words back in, but it was too late. Tears flooded her pretty eyes, and then she hastily ducked her head, quivering.
“E-excuse me!” she cried, scrambling to her feet to rush out of the room. Their gazes all followed, and even stared at the hotel room door long after it had slammed behind her retreating form. They all sat there for a second, processing what in the hell had just happened.
“Get the hell off me, man,” Tetsurō grunted and shoved the libero off him. Yū just slid bonelessly to the floor, still staring in shock at the door. “Great fuckin’ job, you two,” he huffed as he rose, straightening out the wrinkles in his uniform. “Are you proud of yourselves?” It seems all their bite had been quashed by Kiyoko’s rant, for they just hunkered down even more with ashamed looks. “This game’s over,” he growled, snatching up the bottle and flinging it into the trash can on his way to the door.
“Hey,” Daichi piped up from where he was still sitting on the floor, and Tetsurō looked at him over his shoulder. With a wan smile, the ravenet tipped his head slightly and continued, “Go after her, will ya?”
“Tch. What did you think I was doing?” was all he said before he exited the room. He found Hitoka standing in the hallway, wringing her hands nervously as she gazed down the empty hall. She glanced over her shoulder when she heard Tetsurō come out of the room, then gasped and hurried up to him.
“Kiyoko went down on the elevator,” she explained with a nervous glance at the shiny metal doors. “She seemed really upset…”
“Don’t worry,” he smiled reassuringly and patted her on the head. She just gazed sadly up at him, a little pout on her lips. “I’ll bring her back, okay? No need to worry.”
She smiled a bit at his assurances, then scurried back to the room she had been sharing with the team manager. Tetsurō strolled over to the elevator and hit the “down” button, and while he waited for it to climb back up, he stood there chewing on the inside of his cheek. The hotel wasn’t that big, but there were still a number of places she could have run off to. When he stepped inside the elevator, he looked over the buttons on the panel with a small frown, then selected the ground floor. Starting at the bottom and working his way up didn’t seem like too bad an idea.
When he stepped off the elevator, he immediately went to the lobby, scanning the chairs in the small waiting area for any sign of her. All he found were two children playing patty cake on the floor while their grandfather snored softly, waiting for his wife to finish at the check-in counter. Tetsurō then meandered to the public bathrooms on the ground floor, but he found the ladies’ room to be unoccupied when he checked the little dial on the display above the doorknob. He poked his head around the corner to scout out the vending machines, but there was no one in sight there, either. Scratching his head, he wandered back into the main lobby to gaze uncertainly at the glass double doors leading out to the street.
Could she have gone outside?
He hadn’t noticed while playing spin-the-bottle, but it had begun to rain. Mist coated the inside set of double doors, and while a couple shuffled inside with water dripping from their raincoats, he noted the torrential downpour raging outside. It wouldn’t hurt to just walk out and check, he reasoned.
The muggy air wrapped around him like a coat as he walked outside, a layer of moisture already sticking to his skin. He squinted against the warm fog drifting around the building as he looked around the dropoff area, but the only thing of interest was a bird pecking at a half-eaten container of nachos. He stepped further out onto the slick sidewalk, glancing left and right. He was about to walk back inside, figuring Kiyoko must be somewhere else, until he heard a quiet sniffle.
He followed it a few feet around the side of the building to find Kiyoko sitting on the curb beside the trash can, just out of reach of the pouring rain.
“Now, now,” he purred as he walked up, and Kiyoko snapped her head up with a small gasp. “That’s no throne fit for a lady, now is it?” She blushed at his words, glancing away to hide the pink blush spreading across her cheeks. Yet she made no move to flee, so Tetsurō took that as an invitation to continue closing the distance between them until he could lower himself down onto the curb. He stretched his long legs out in front of him with a sigh. Silence settled between them, and for a few moments, he just listened to the rain drum against the concrete awning. He knew that Kiyoko was embarrassed, so he didn’t want to press her to speak until she was ready.
Finally, while playing with the fabric of her pajama bottoms, she mumbled, “Why’d you come after me?”
“Because you were upset,” he answered, tilting his head to the side so he could dig a little into his ear. All the humidity in the air was making it a little itchy. “I sure as hell wasn’t gonna let one of those two bozos come after you.” Kiyoko sniffed at that, and the way her body tensed up indicated that she was still very much stewing in her anger. Tetsurō lowered his hand after scratching at his ear canal, then chanced scooting a little closer to her. He heard her inhale sharply, but she didn’t ask him to move away; in fact, she scooched in a few centimeters herself, though she probably thought he wouldn’t notice.
“So… You agreed to the game because you wanted to kiss me, huh?” he asked, and he was unable to stop a self-satisfied grin from forming on his lips. He didn’t see the point in beating around the bush. Kiyoko squirmed uncomfortably, dropping her gaze down to her lap to study the stars stitched into the navy blue fabric of her pajamas. Fiddling with the lace-trimmed hem of her pajama shirt now, she swallowed thickly before breathing out a meek, “Yes.”
“Well that’s good, because I only agreed to the game because I was hoping to kiss you.”
“Really?” she cried, head snapping up so hard that a chunk of her hair whipped across his face. He hissed at the stinging sensation, reaching up to the red streak now shining bright against her cheek. Kiyoko slapped a hand to her mouth in horror, reaching up to brush gentle fingers over his. “I-I’m sorry!” she cried, then snorted in laughter. It was kind of funny, he reasoned, and found himself smiling.
“I come down here to comfort you, and you hit me. How cruel,” he pouted. “I think you should kiss it better.”
She blushed at this, and when her hand started to falter, he grabbed it and pressed it to his neck, holding her palm over his pulse point. She could probably feel it, the way his blood raced through his arteries with the intense pounding of his heart. “Won’t you kiss it better for me, Kiyoko?” he rumbled, leaning in a bit closer to her. “After all, you still owe me a kiss.”
“Rules are rules,” she said back, and as her gaze dropped to his sneering mouth, her cheeks darkened a shade. “I’m not as shy as Asahi, you know.”
“You should be careful, saying things like that to a man,” Tetsurō warned. “It might have unintended consequences.”
“Or maybe the consequences are intended,” she countered with a sly smile, and Tetsurō could only groan. Fuck, she was hot. Her hand rested on his knee and slowly slid up as she leaned further in, her breath ghosting over his face and fogging ever-so-slightly in the muggy air. It was warm and smelled like mint toothpaste, but Tetsurō thought that was so sexy in the moment. He tilted his head as her nose brushed against his, her eyelashes fluttering as the distance between their lips closed to millimeters. With a gentle hum, she finally closed the distance, and as sappy as it was, Tetsurō thought he might faint.
Her lips were so soft, like silk as they moved gently over his own. His one hand still held hers against his raging pulse, while the other swiftly came up to rest against her cheek, feeling how it warmed as her lips smoothed against his. Tetsurō quickly found himself hungry for more, so before she could even think about pulling away, he was driving the kiss deeper, devouring her mouth like it was the sweetest water and he’d been wandering a desert for weeks. She let out a little moan as he swept his tongue over her bottom lip, pleading for entry, and she hastily complied. If her lips were sweet, then the rest of her was downright saccharine, pure sugary syrup as he swept her tongue up with his.
“Fuck, you’re gorgeous,” he breathed when he finally forced himself away because his head was beginning to swim from lack of oxygen. She hummed in response, leaning in to lightly kiss the now-pink streak on his cheek from where she’d accidentally smacked him with her hair. Her head fell to his shoulder, snuggling into the crook of his neck where he still held her hand. She laced her fingers with his while he pressed a lingering kiss into the crown of her head.
I’m glad I decided against going to sleep, he thought with a smirk as he buried his face into her hair, relishing the scent of her coconut shampoo.
They sat down there in peace and quiet for a while, waiting for Kiyoko’s ire to cool, before finally walking back upstairs to the sixth floor. Tetsurō insisted on holding her hand despite her embarrassment, mostly because the sadist in him couldn’t help but add insult to injury. When they returned to the third-years’ room, they found the two culprits kneeling on the wood with textbooks piled high on their laps. A punishment only Koshi could think up, he thought with just the faintest bit of pity. The rest of the third-years were still sitting around in a circle, though now they were playing Rich Man, Poor Man.
“Uwahhh! Kiyoko-chan, we’re so sorry!” Yū wailed as soon as she walked into the room. “Please, end our suffering!”
“I can’t feel my legs,” Ryūnosuke groaned, head bobbing like he was about to pass out. “Kiyoko-chan, please forgive us!”
“That’s what you two get for making our precious manager cry,” Koshi tutted in a sing-song voice while nhe inspected his hand of cards critically. “Feel grateful you got off this easy, I was going to add Kei’s calculus textbooks.” The two boys let out dismayed wails in unison, and Koshi just grinned, the devilish bastard. He leaned his cheek in his hand as he glanced up at Kiyoko. “Well? Do you think they’re remorseful?”
“You’d better let them go, or they might not even be able to stand on the court tomorrow,” Kiyoko said. Koshi tutted, then waved a hand at the two boys. They immediately shoved the heavy textbooks off their thighs and stretched out their legs with groans bordering on sobs. Kiyoko just chuckled, then hugged Tetsurō’s arm and looked up at him hopefully.
“Will you stay up here and play cards with us?” she asked entreatingly.
“Please,” Morisuke sniffed, then laid down his cards into the growing pile on the floor. “It was nearly impossible to get him up here to play spin-the-bottle because he wanted to sleep.”
“It was not impossible,” Tetsurō retorted, sneaking his arm around Kiyoko’s waist. He didn’t miss the way that Yū and Ryūnosuke’s eyes zeroed in on his hand clutching her hip. “Besides, how could I refuse when such a pretty lady asks me so sweetly?”
“Hey, you two, calm down the homicidal aura,” Daichi barked to his two underclassmen, who just slunk back into the adjoining room like wounded dogs. Tetsurō smirked wanly, knowing that it would be a good while before he would retire to his futon tonight. But that’s okay, he thought, smiling into the kiss he pressed to her temple. She’s well worth losing sleep over.
