Kiyoko genuinely not being interested in Tanaka for a long time until one day for no reason he overhears her talking to Yachi about some incredibly fluffy teen girl romance tv show they both watch and he chimes in like OH ARE YOU GUYS EXCITED FOR THE FINALE? and it turns into a 35 minute conversation where he's for the first time not fawning over her and instead geeking out about this teen drama and she realizes they have a TON of overlapping interests AND he'd be willing to watch her "girly" shows with her and is like WAIT OH NO OH MY GOD-
I think a lot about Tanaka and Shimizu's first date a lot. Like. I feel like it could not have happened until after Tanaka graduated, for sure. Were they already keeping in touch after she graduated? Or did she call him up out of the blue one day and ask him out for a beer?? Did he lose his fucking mind? Panic?? For six seconds and then remember he's a totally cool and chill dude and there's nothing to worry about? Showed up for the first date confident, charming, attentive. I suppose there's some insinuation that maybe they dated when Tanaka was still a third year... that whole thing at the end of their Kamomedai game where she finally lets him carry her bag, now that their volleyball relationship is kind of over, I guess? But still, I feel like she'd want to wait until they were both out of high school. BUT ALSO they still got married relatively quickly... since they are already married by the time of the Alders/Jackals match. ANWAY I just like Thinking About Them sometimes.
