Day 3: Struggle/Evolution .. The struggle to clean is real.. 💙
GUESS WHO’S COMPLETELY LATE TO KUROMAHI WEEK!
I’m so sorry for missing day one, I totally forgot the week was even happening ;; When I saw Bee’s art and noticed the week started yesterday, I rushed to write a little something so I won’t miss any more of it. I’ll write something longer tomorrow probably!
My love for flowers is also a curse. Enjoy this little reincarnation/flower shop au!
Day 2: nostalgia/need
::

Kuro knows this person.
Or maybe, he feels like he’s supposed to know him.
His brown eyes are familiar. His short hair is familiar. His smile is familiar.
Who is he?
Kuro didn’t remember why he stepped into that flower shop at the first place. The sun was setting outside and he was on his way home, back from another day working his awful office job, when he saw the shop for the first time. Or maybe not, because he passes through this street whenever he’s too lazy to call for a taxi, but this is the first time he noticed it.
“Welcome,” The flower shop employee said, his smile polite, and Kuro had a weird feeling this isn’t the first time he’s seen him.
“Have I met you anywhere before?” he asked without thinking, and the guy blinked owlishly at his question. “It’s my first day here, so I don’t think so. You do seem familiar, now that I’m thinking about it. Hmm, bizarre. So, do you want to buy any flowers?”
“Not really,” Kuro answered nonchalantly, and the guy frowned. “Then why are you here? Thinking simply, you have no other reason to enter a flower shop if you’re not buying any flowers.”
Kuro didn’t know what to say to that because the guy is right. Dammit.
“Guess I’ll leave,” he grunted, turning around and leaving before he could get another word out.
Weird.

The next day, he entered the shop again. When he stepped through the glass doors, the employee just looked puzzled, tracking his movement with furrowed brows.
“Are you here to get flowers?” he asked, a bit informally, and Kuro didn’t plan to get any flowers. Why was he there again?
Kuro took a good look around the shop, ignoring the employee’s question. The shop was small, wooden, and full to the brim with flowers, pots and various gardening tools. It was a little before sundown, and the sunlight made the shop feel warm. Homey.
“Yeah,” he said out of the blue, and the employee startled. “Do you have any recommendations? For flowers, I mean.”
“Well, it depends on who and for what you’re buying them for,” the employee said hesitantly, but a bit calmer. “If they’re just for yourself, just look around and pick ones you like.”
Kuro nodded. He looked around, but ultimately, he has no taste in anything. Especially flowers.
“What bouquet would you get for yourself?” Kuro asked, and the employee’s eyes flashed with a spark of hope.
He made his way from behind the counter to where Kuro is standing, and looked around a little bit.
“If I have full creative liberty here,” he said and sneaked a glance at Kuro, who nodded in approval, “I’d start with red dahlias.”
The employee reached over and grabbed a few stark red flowers.
“Aren’t these too bright?” Kuro frowned, but the employee’s eyes brightened after he said it. He walked a few steps to his left and knelt down, taking a few beautiful black flowers from their place.
“These are snapdragons,” he explained. “They’re called “Black Prince” snapdragons. They’re not bright but make a big impact, which makes them perfect to mash up with bold colors.”
The employee went back to Kuro, and picked white flowers this time. “Asters.”
He turned around and took out more white flowers from a small flower pot next to the entrance. “Heliotropes.”
He looked around a little more, scanning the shop, and placed the flowers gently on the counter. “I’ll be right back,” he promised, and opened a door at the back of the shop. Once he was gone, Kuro breathed in deeply.
What is it about this stranger showing him flowers that made his heart race like that?
He didn’t know what to say, and yet, it felt like he had too many words, tangled up in the mess of his feelings. He felt an undeniable connection to this place, that had so many pretty flowers and wide glass windows and an employee that loves flowers and loves talking about them with other people.
Before he noticed, the employee came back, with a few purple flowers in his hands.
“The blue lisianthus and blue veronicas are beautiful flowers, but we have so little of them,” he sighed to himself. “And they’re both called blue while their hues are more purple, which tends to annoy my best friend a lot. I hope it doesn’t bother you. Grab me some of the purple larkspurs behind you, will you?”
It doesn’t.
Kuro looked at the flowers behind him, pretty long ones that were shaped like bells, and his mouth shifted upwards. “I like the purple. It reminds me of my younger sister.”
The employee, who noticed the absentmindedly fond tone in Kuro’s voice, smiled and took the flowers from his hands. “That’s sweet.”
Kuro blushed at the contact and swiftly looked away. The employee snickered and took some green plants from somewhere, and walked behind the counter, wrapping up his bouquet.
“I added euphorbias, ivys and hostas to make the colors pop off more,” he elaborated, and tied a white ribbon around the bouquet. He made his way to Kuro and handed him the bouquet, looking at it proudly.
“How much?” Kuro asked, but the employee shook his head.
“I’ll give it to you in exchange for a name.”
Kuro’s heart skipped a beat, and he stared, taking in the employee’s small nervous grin as the sun started to set and his face shone.
“Kuro.”
The employee’s little grin turned into a wide smile.
“Kuro. Like the snapdragons. My name is Mahiru.”
And as he said that, Kuro’s whole world turned upside down.
This person named Mahiru felt like everything Kuro looked for his entire life.
“You know, it’s funny, I actually had a cat named Kuro,” Mahiru rambled, not noticing Kuro’s surprised expression. “He was small, kind of lazy, but actually really lovab--”
“Mahiru,” Kuro said as he stepped a step closer to Mahiru, who immediately quieted. “Thank you for the flowers.”
“... It’s nothing,” Mahiru murmured, cheeks red. Kuro stared into his eyes for one more second before he walked over to the entrance.
“Mahiru...” he mumbled, grasping the door handle. He never wanted to leave. “I’ll be back.”
Hesitation. “I’ll… Be waiting.”
Kuro let himself smile.
The sunset never looked as beautiful as it did then.
