"i was waiting." from kushina!
Kakashi wonders sometimes how even Kushina's hair manages to be expressive. She's standing off to the side of the street with her arms crossed, arms bare and hair tied back in a nod to the unseasonably humid July they're experiencing, and with every irritated tap of her foot it seems like her hair poofs out a little bit more-- like an angry cat.
He's just changed out of his ANBU uniform and back into his Jounin blues, still just a little bit damp from the wash. The hot summer air makes the fabric cling to his skin unpleasantly, but he knows once they make it under the cover of the trees outside the gates the air will cool off a little bit. Hopefully the humidity isn't such that he's damp for much longer-- it'll be a long run to the Iwa border.
"My apologies, Kushina-san," he says, tone formal, with a small bow at the waist because he knows it'll piss her off more than anything else would. "I didn't mean to keep you." Is he imagining things, or is she growling at him? "The Hokage asked that I attend a meeting that ran a little long. I should have sent word."
He straightens, trying not to snicker at her expression, and holds out a mission scroll for her to take. "We are heading north, a squad went missing and we are meant to track them down if we can-- they had some intel that..." Kakashi trails off. Squints at her. He won't be able to focus if he doesn't ask. "Are you actually mad at me?"
Follow the grass up the mountain up the foot of the mountain. / Follow the twisting branches. / When you look at them / Remember that they are alive, growing still.
