can you explain why you thought in the crossover episode that seeing uncle grandpa dressed as rose was portrayed as funny? if i'm remembering correctly, no one laughed and it wasn't something that was made fun of-- i'm not trying to come off as rude or anything, i'm not sure if that's how i seem, i'm just curious as to how it was portrayed as funny so i can look our for things like it in the future
Because it’s a “classic” joke. It’s used in bugs bunny, aladdin, the lion king, powerpuff girls, any cartoon where someone is falling off a building or running and they go through a clothesline with women’s clothes on it and end up wearing a dress and dozens of other cartoons (i’m not even going to get into live action stuff). And kids laugh at it.
When people watch the lion king, they laugh in the scene where Timon "dresses in drag and does the hula.” No one in the movie laughs and no one in the movie makes fun of him, but the audience recognizes it as cue for laughter. Because society teaches us that it’s funny when a man dresses like a woman.
Even just the way the action happens in the episode. At first everything is overly dramatic and there’s beautiful music, and then when we can fully see that it’s Uncle Grandpa dressed like Rose Quartz. the music comes to an abrupt end and he comes in with his goofy voice saying “good morning.” The juxtaposition of the serene and beautiful and feminine with a silly looking man with a mustache with a goofy voice is of course going to make people laugh.
