1. Your anime crush? I don't really have one to be honest :/

Vegas, Baby!

Well…I’m 12 (ish) hours from the Ironman 70.3 World Championships. This week has been a whirlwind…but amazing. Since arriving in Vegas, it’s been a little non-stop. Sponsor visits, events, gear check-in, swims, rides, runs…

Today, as I walked around the expo, I took a step back and just took it all in….

I was surrounded by amazing athletes. EVERYONE here that is racing looks fit and fast. And, it’s likely they are…it’s the world championships, after all. It was cool to hear people speaking different languages and see all the high-end bikes, gear, etc. In this slightly overwhelming (ok, totally overwhelming) atmosphere was an energy I’ve never felt. I smiled to myself and actually said out loud…this is freaking awesome.

I’ve spent my entire triathlon career hoping that I would have the opportunity to someday compete in this championship or the full ironman one. And, I’ve spent the past 6 months working my butt off in order to be prepared to race amongst the best.

I’m not going to lie and say I’m not scared…but I know I’ve done everything I can to prepare myself to have the best race I can. I’ve put in countless miles and challenged myself to a new level this year. So no matter what the day brings…and I hear it will bring plenty of heat, wind and brutal hills...I will give it my all…

A good friend called me today and said some great words “you earned the right to compete among the best in the world and this is it. You’ve made it, so now go out and feel the love for the sport, push it to your limit and have some fun out there.”

So that is exactly what I’m going to do….

Also, something I don’t want to go without saying is that I am so lucky to have such amazing support in triathlon from family, friends, wattie ink elite team teammates, run chicks run group and Southern Runner. And.. amazing sponsors: Kswiss, PowerBar, BlueSeventy, Scott Bikes, ISM seats, FuelBelt, Reynolds, Speedfil, and SpiderTech. I truly believe in all these products and I will be surrounded by them tomorrow.
