The glorious moment in which Toshio surprised Hitomi trying to steal the emerald, he watched her in face and didn't understand anything (as usual).
Hitomi wasn't wearing any mask or gloves, so Toshio not only actually saw his girlfriend's face but also had Hitomi's finger prints, but Toshio didn't show any sign to have actually recognized Hitomi at all in the whole episode. In fact the only danger for Hitomi and her sisters was a school girl that took a very dark picture of her and is sure to have recognized Hitomy by her body shape!
Well, cartoon logic, I guess.
