Weeks 42-44 didn't have work done that I could really show so I decided to wait and gather it all together to talk about.

Detective game idea (2)...?

I decided that I'll need 10 new BGs for the remainder of SYVNH's story... (I look at my notes and curse at myself sometimes haha...) The worst part is, I think most of these will only be used for a couple scenes lol. But I decided long ago I wouldn't hold back for the art so here I am.

The first draft for The Beauty which Only Beast Knows is also now finished! The total wordcount is 17.8k+! ...Scripting that will be fun... But, what is exciting and fun is that we have a near full team for this project, which will be released in January for Once Upon a Time VN Jam and Winter Visual Novel Jam. This story will be an otome game retelling of Beauty and the Beast. Except the beast may be an eldritch creature and maybe you're not as pretty as everyone thinks you are.

And, uh, what's that about another detective game idea? I learned The Case of the Thinky Game Jam is happening in December and the plot bunnies started turning gears.

I came up with an idea for gameplay in one hour between 12-1AM. Then, folks suggested I sleep and change my mind.

I woke up the next day, saw the extent of the scope I wanted and changed my mind. I do want to make this idea real and I want to learn to write better mysteries, but there's just no way I'd be able to make this idea happen in 16 days for the game jam 😂

If I have time, I'll work on detailing that outline this week though. I do want to at least make a logical mystery before the year ends.

En bref : Tracks

L'as d'or prochain, qu'on m'avait dit. Au bout de quelques parties, un peu de mal à y croire...

Suite du billet sur Unlock, on continue la partie avec Tracks. Ce que j'aime avec ce jeu, c'est que les parties sont courtes, on peut en faire plusieurs. J'insiste un peu sur ce jeu, parce que j'ai envie de le finir pour voir ce qu'il a dans le ventre. Les premiers scenarios nous ont fait forte impression, c'était immersif, bien fichu et original. Et puis un ventre creux de quelques scenarios un peu bof, dont un complètement "bullshit" de notre point de vue, au point que même avec la solution sous les yeux, on y croyait pas.

Pour rappel, on a une grande carte de ville, on écoute un crime avoir lieu et des gens se déplacer en ville, et avec la bande-son, on essaie de savoir où ils sont allés, en partant d'où, etc... L'idée est bonne, la mise en pratique moins.

Les deux scenarios fait lors de cette soirée jeu ne m'ont pas fait changer d'avis sur cet entre-deux, entre bonne idée et réalisation bof. Là, il y commence à y avoir des petites (vraiment toutes petites hein) nouveautés de gameplay. Et on est assez d'accords avec ce que le jeu nous propose. Mais malgré tout, on est un poil déçus à la fin. Je spoil un des petits twists : des enquêtes avec un timer, on doit trouver le lieu avant les X minutes, sinon il se passe un truc pas cool. Sauf qu'on a trouvé après les X minutes, et que cela n'a aucun impact dans le débriefing de la mission à priori. Que vous réussissiez dans le temps impati ou pas, vous avez réussi. On ne réclame pas forcément d'être punis pour notre "manque de performance", mais au moins une ligne qui change dans le débrief qui montre que ça a été pris en compte, "dommage, vous ferez mieux la prochaine fois".

Bon, on en est à peu près à la moitié des scenario, je me bats un peu avec moi-même à chaque fois que je pose les yeux dessus pour ne pas le vendre avant de l'avoir terminé. Mais pour le moment, mes joueurs n'en sont pas encore déçus vraiment, on y joue avec plaisir, et on rigole bien parfois devant le jeu d'acteur très exagéré, mais c'est forcé pour un jeu de ce type, ou pour certains bruitages ("Allez, on se casse", le bruitage juste après, scenario 2 ; un grand fou-rire).
