7. Kyle’s Hat/Car Shot
Kyle did an exceptional job in this shoot. The dress looks glorious on her and she did an excellent job of selling everything she’s wearing. I love how controlled her pose looks without appearing stiff and she elongated well despite sitting. Her face is so beautiful here and she’s bringing out a lot of intensity with her eyes. This is definitely my favorite shot from Kyle.

My call-out average: 5.29
Panel call-out average: 5.29
Before my rewatch of Cycle 18 I was fully expecting to rank Kyle much lower than this, but she was much stronger than I remember. I much preferred her pre-makeover look, but her appearance was one of the most model-like in the cast and she didn’t have to do much to churn out great photos. Now, her body of work was far from perfect: her Toddler and Dinner Party shots were quite bad, and let’s not forget about her smiling for miles music video travesty. However, she produced a few stellar photos during her run. I gave her a FCO for the Trampoline photoshoot (her shot was one of very few I could take seriously that week), and she delivered some amazing shots in the Very.com and Hats/Low-riders photoshoots. Her walk was fine, nothing special, but it could’ve been improved with less creepy buggy dead eyes and less head swaying. Obviously her runway ability was enough to book her a couple jobs in Toronto (although Pink Tartan fired her). Kyle’s performance did slip in her final few weeks, but her previous excellent showings should have made the judges give her another chance. It’s hard to say whether or not she was a threat to make the Top 3, but I think she had at least 2 or 3 more weeks to give. Kyle seemed to be a major target and I think it was because she was one of the early frontrunners without even trying. All of the other girls’ feelings towards her ranged from indifference to hatred. I really didn’t think Kyle was that bad. Yes, she was boring as heck and her outbursts about quitting (while understandable due to how some of the girls were treating her) quickly became annoying. However, she never did anything too malicious or antagonistic to justify the overall dislike thrown her way. Kyle was far from my favorite, but I think she was just misunderstood.

Kyle’s shot is equally as horrendous as Alisha’s. What the fuck is that pose? It looks like she dislocated her hip, plus the limp arm and the strange angle of her head in relation to her body aren’t doing her any favors either. The dress looks horrible and the meat on her shoulder is bugging the heck out of me. I’m not sure what she was going for with that expression, but at least she’s connecting well. Despite this dumpster fire of a photo I would’ve given Kyle another chance. Her portfolio was sort of hit or miss, but her hits were quite stellar and her overall body of work was better than several other girls.

Kyle’s whip moment is the only thing keeping her out my bottom 2. It was ridiculous/hilarious but at least she committed to it. The rest of this was a pile of dookie. Her face was so dead and soulless a majority of the time and she seemed lost and disconnected from the rest of the girls. I would’ve eliminated Kyle over AzMarie without question, but neither of them deserved to be ousted at this point based on overall bodies of work over Eboni or Seymone (or Alisha, Catherine, or Annaliese for that matter, but I kinda give the British girls immunity this week since they dominated the battle of the music videos).

The only thing I really love about Kyle’s shot is her eye contact: her eyes are stunning and she’s piercing straight through. Otherwise there isn’t much that wows me. Normally I like simplistic shots but the pose is somewhat stiff and I especially hate the clumsy and pointless arm up by her face; if she was going to make that work she should’ve been more delicate with the placement. Her bone structure looks good at least. It’s neither bad or great, and for that Kyle lands in the middle of my call-out.

The top 2 shots were in a league of their own. Kyle’s photo is stunning! Her body looks insane in that dress and I love all of her choices in how she positioned herself, from the crossed legs to the placement of her arms. She’s modeling the heck out of everything she’s wearing. Her bone structure is so gorgeous and she’s piercing straight through the camera, although I think she should’ve widened her eyes a little more. Kyle looks like a super high fashion rich bitch in this shot and I am living for it!

The Top 3 all did an incredible job this week. This is probably my favorite shot in Kyle’s portfolio, there’s something so electric about it. Her leap is so simple and controlled that it’s almost like she’s levitating. Her body language has the perfect amount of tension and the clothes look amazing. I think her expression is slightly psychotic but in a fashionable way. Kyle fully embodied the punk love vibe that the American team was going for and it resulted in a terrific photograph.
