Hayes’s Suspension

Time for some blabbers about the RP over the past two days because I woke up yesterday to Hayes getting suspended lmao.  Disclaimer!  I am a Hayes viewer through and through, so I do lean towards her side on this.  Pred is a character that is RP’d fantastically to the point that I dislike him abhorrently most of the time.

Both sides of things had it 100% coming.  Pred deserved to get clapped back on by Hayes when she said, “You’re not my superior.”  Hayes deserved being suspended for saying that.

I think what’s bothered me about this is how Pred got away just fine with bad mouthing Hayes in front of her cadet, although I understand that the insubordination issue is a bigger thing.  Hayes and Pred have never gotten along, and Pred still views her as the meek, anxious cadet she was last year.  He still holds the fact that she failed her first final eval over her head, while seeming to ignore all of the growth she’s gone through since then.

Hayes’s day off was great.  I even said elsewhere that the biggest knock with this suspension was Hayes losing access to being able to do paperwork through the MDW.  She spent the day fishing, doing deliveries, and racing go-karts with Balto and a few others.  She had a great time.

Every person she came across immediately asked her why she was off duty because she never is.  When she told them she was suspended, she’d explain the situation, and most everyone said: “Yeah, sounds like Pred” (more or less).  [Personal favorite response was from Serge Cross when she called him and he went, “Oh, same!  Welcome to the club!”  And recounted how he got a 24 hr from Pred]

Everyone’s points eventually boiled down to, “You need to respect the rank, but you don’t have to respect the person.”  Totally valid and how it should be.

I’m also so glad that Baas actually got around to talking to her this evening when she got on to do paperwork.  Hayes made it very clear to Baas that what she said was in the moment, done to protect how others view her, and how she can never respect Pred as a person, but she’ll always respect the rank.  Baas was very perceptive, and I’m glad Hayes finally got to talk with Baas about everything.  He said that he would talk with Pred about it, so I’m hoping for no goldfish brain.

Maybe my feelings around this come from the fact that I can’t stand Pred as a character?  I don’t know, there’s something about him that rubs me the wrong way (which just means he’s being RP’d fantastically, all kudos to Kyle), so all of my views of Pred are from the eyes of other characters.  Most of the time, those views are from characters that diametrically oppose Pred (Hayes, Bob, and Rhodes to a certain extent).  This has just been on my mind today and I had to get it out somewhere. 🤔
