I have been watching Kyle XY... and yeah its got some cringe and camp (and one heck of a liberal agenda for a show that probablyaired during the Bush presidency), but I kinda don't care. It scratches that 2000's teen sci-drama itch. I don't think I ever really watched it before, but maybe I saw a clip or two and heard a few people talk about it because q few bits and pieces feel vaguely familiar. But its a bit like smallville.
I just finished season 2 and the only thing I truly hate is the amount of time they give to Jessi XX. Like her character COULD be fine, even interesting and sympathetic. But instead its very annoying. Everything revoles around her all the time.
Especially because I am very invested in Amanda and they could do so much with her character. But they give her less screen time and refuse to give her more involvement. I love her so much, and there are so many storylines they could give her...
And they keep pushing Jessi instead. I get she has a part to play in the plot. But the emotional baggage is too much. Jessi is better in small doses when Kyle is not around or when she is not putting him in in compromising scenarios where his loyalties are torn between two girls. As soon as she becomes all moon-eyed about Kyle, I want her gone.
I could go on, but... I will RAGE QUIT if they burn down such a sweet couple in the name of this weird psycho-nerotic codependent mess of a girl getting the guy just because of some kind of so-called destiny. Especially in a show all about people being controlled and manipulated. Kyle has always chosen Amanda.
I think I feel so protective of them because they remind me of young Clana.
