Kynan is usually the first person the de Rolo kids’ significant others get to know outside of the siblings simply because he is by far the least scary person in that castle in their eyes. He’s honestly not sure how he feels about it.

Cassandra was called “Whitestone’s Daughter” by many soon after the Briarwoods fell thanks to the outpouring of support shown for her. The first time someone used that term for her it literally took her to her knees. It felt like getting a part of her identity back she thought the Briarwoods had warped forever.

Kaylie is at a total loss when she first becomes a big sister, not knowing how to act in a lot of ways. She’ll never admit it, but she drunkenly asked Vesper de Rolo how the hell she did it when Vesper was older and her younger siblings reach their teens, and got some genuinely great advice.

It takes a while for Cassandra to warm up to Vax. Eventually, she admits that it’s because he can sneak up on her unintentionally, something she’s learned to be very uncomfortable with. Instantly after he hears this, Vax starts announcing himself to her even in situations where that’s totally unnecessary. Cassandra felt a little stupid, but it really did help.

Kaylie has a fully written out letter to her younger self in her vanity drawer answering all of the questions she once had about her dad. No one’s ever seen it, and she’ll make damn sure no one ever will.

cass smiles at him ,  reaching to @kynanleore​ and brushing his hair out of his eyes .  the taste of both of their slurpees has mixed together in her mouth ,  something strange and yet still somehow pleasant .  maybe what makes it pleasant ,  though ,  is the man whose lap she sits atop  --  the care she can read in his eyes ,  the way out in his words should it be something that she wants .    “ i’m sure , ”  she promises ,  shifting her hips to press more firmly against him and leaning up for a kiss .

Any more Kynan headcanons? On a Kynan kick lately, just! Gimme all that good lad content 👌

Like! We know his dad was an alcoholic, and likely not a good guy - which might explain why he was so hung up on VM, because he needed that escapism. And then having Ripley manipulating him, playing a role in the death of one of his heros and nearly killing Keyleth too, only to end up with? A stable job at the end of it? In Whitestone? With some peers close to him in age who also have ties to VM and complex relationships with them? (Desmond and Cass, namely, but Kaylie too over the years) There’s so much potential for this guy mmmhm

I think he formed some sort of group for people whose parents and other loved ones turned to alcohol to cope with the Briarwood regime. That part of his story is probably way more common than we usually think about, so I like to think he’d help those people.

In my head he had a little bit of a crush on Cassandra for a while, but it was never reciprocated, at least not as far as he knows.

He apologized to Percy what may have been too many times, but of course Percy eventually forgives him. His story becomes much harder to hear after he becomes a dad, because that was just a kid led astray, so he tries to subtly make it up to him as often as he can.

Getting chaperoned by Kynan is a sign to the de Rolo kids that they are in quite a lot of trouble for whatever reason, and though they like him as a person they are obviously not a fan of this practice.

He feels really bad for Kaylie, especially with some of the sideways glances she gives VM. Because these people are the heroes he dreamed about. How could she ever be disappointed?

cassandra feels the best she has in days .  thanks to @kynanleore​ ,  her hair is clean .  thanks to herself ,  her body is clean .  she’s eaten a whole meal ,  and now she’s settled in in front of the fire with a cup of tea and a cake and her favorite companion  —  blue eyes are unfocused still ,  however ,  exhausted in more ways than one .  

but she’s engaged enough to hear kynan teasing her  —  engaged enough to be able to see his eyes ,  to see the mirth in them . a laugh breaks through ,  short and soft and sad even so ,  though for a brief moment the sun breaks through the storm .  though the clouds close back over ,  an edge of tension has released ,  and her shoulders loosen  —  a distinct change from where they were just moments before .

??? ASKS  :  who’s there?!

cassandra still hugs the shadows as @kynanleore​ wakes ,  fingers flexing awkwardly around the hilt of her sword .  it doesn’t fit well in her hand ,  but he doesn’t fit well in her tower .  “ no one you want to have a problem with , ”  she warns ,  doing the best she can to hide the nerves .  “ how did you find this tower ,  then ?  if you didn’t think there was anyone in here ? ”  she wishes delilah was here .  she’s equally glad that delilah wasn’t .  she wants to know everything about this man .  she equally wants him to disappear .

her first answering noise is a half - laugh ,  half - sob ,  crossing the room to @kynanleore​ and throwing her arms around his neck after a nod of consent .  her nails grasp against his shirt to make certain that he’s real ,  that he’s here .  she’d hide her face in his neck ,  but she can’t get herself to stop looking into his eyes ,  getting lost in them .  “ i love you , ”  she whispers ,  a tad surprised by the admission but not by the feeling .  she repeats it ,  a little louder .  “ i love you . ”  is loving someone supposed to be joy ,  not pain ?  warm ,  not agony ?  safety ,  not loss ?  if this is what it is meant to feel like ,  cassandra could live in this feeling forever .
