part 3 of me working on Buffy speak, "Every accusation is a confession."

Buffy : if they’re pointing the finger, they’re just giving you a free preview of the stuff they’re totally failing to handle in their own life. It's not a critique; well it is but of themselves.

Willow:Oh, that? That’s basically just the villain-of-the-week reading their own diary out loud.

Xander: Oh, right, the classic 'Smeller-is-the-Fella' defense, but like, dialed up to a, psychological ten

Drusilla: let them point their crooked fingers at the dark, they’re painting a picture of the monsters hiding under their beds. They think they’re throwing stones, but they’re really just opening up their pretty little chests and showing you all the maggots squirming inside.

Spike: Oh, it's bloody beautiful, innit? The grand hypocrisy of the human race. Or, well, demons too, if we're being honest. See, a bloke only knows how to accuse you of the exact bit of nastiness he’s already cooked up in his own head. He thinks he’s throwing a punch, but really, he’s just standing there stark naked, showing you exactly how his own twisted little mind works. It's not an insult, mate. It’s a roadmap to his own guilty conscience.

William: People believe they are wielding a righteous sword to pierce your reputation. Yet, in their desperate passion, they merely hold up a mirror of the most exquisite clarity! wait. willow’s mom is neglectful to the point that she doesn’t notice willow cut her hair for weeks/months yet when we’re first introduced to willow she’s wearing something her mother picked out. do you think part of the reason she wears clothes her mom picks out despite them being somewhat juvenile is because it’s one of the very few ways she feels like her mom is paying attention and cares
